It drives me nuts that manufacturers do not make equipment available to the U.S.. You would think you could at least order through a golf shop.....lately I have noticed better looking bags and the R7Forged Irons....does anyone know why they do this?

I'm not from the industry but tust a couple of guesses here...

- (MAYBE!) these bags are made in Asia so it costs more to ship/carry these products in US.

- Bigger market in Asia for staff bags than in the US. (I know some folks who frequent these boards may disagree :) )

Personally, I love the look of those staff bags and would really like to own one. But at the same time, they look really flashy to me: too flashy, in fact. I don't want to be THAT GUY with the ultra-flashy staff bag hanging off the back of my cart.

I suspect that golf in Asia is cost-prohibitive for most people. But most of the people who do play probably have the extra money to purchase $300 bags, $2000 sets of irons off the shelf, etc. each year. The FLASH/BLING factor is a big part of that market, I think it is much more high-tech/bling motivated. They are willing to pay for premium materials, expensive manufacturing methods, and limited production items.

Because of the lower costs elsewhere, a wider cross-section of people play the game, and I would guess that most are much more value-conscious (myself included).

The great part is that if you want the latest-and-greatest Asian-market golf stuff, there are plenty of avenues to purchase said equipment. In some ways, it's probably better that those bags aren't in every pro-shop around the world, because that makes them seem that much cooler for the people who do special-order them through TSG, etc.

Absolutely. I like the fact that I got something different. It doesn't look too "bring bring" in all black. No more ostentatious that a 10 inch Black & White staff bag for instance...

Yup I don't think the US market will pay $350-400 for a bag.

I got a J's (Jumbo Ozaki) staff bag from a Japanese client as a gift more than 10 years ago. The bag was supposedly worth north of $500 then. It's in a few of my WITB pics. Unbelievable quality and durability.
