Muizuno - Do they care

MP68 no show
Hi Guys

Maybe I'm unlucky and they hate me, but I've been waiting for a set of MP68 blades for 10 weeks now for a custom order x-stiff shafts and 2 degrees flat, stock grips.

The dealer keeps phoning mizuno and get promised "oh just another week", they said the chrome heads were in short supply, so I accepted nickel, then nickel was in short supply urh....

I'm just about to cancel the order (which I paid in advance) and just NEVER buy Mizuno again.

My wife has suggested I phone Mizuno and ask for a free gift as compensation (free gap wedge), but at the moment I'm so annoyed I might just cut my losses and forget Mizuno.

Anyone else been so hacked off by Mizuno lack of customer care.

When I ordered Titleist years ago they were short of shafts and phoned me directly to apologise - but the delay was only 1 week not 10 weeks!! (and I got some free balls as compensation)

Annoyingly I know the MP68 are the best blades made today so they feel they can hold customers to ransom in effect.


Any advice apart from an ICE shower!

exactly my thoughts, especially when I have had no trouble with them. My custom order only took 2 weeks at most

I'm sure they don't mean to do this...however, I think they should make good on this. 10wks is a LONG time to wait for customs. Sometimes the bending (up/down, weak/strong) can mess up the order. And I would get them checked immediately after I get them anyways, so might as well order them standard and have them bent at a reputable golf shop.

That is not standard for Mizuno. Most things are done and shipped in a couple of days. How well do you know the dealer? Is this your golf club pro shop? In my experience, these type of situations are usually the fault of the dealer and not the manufacturer. I have seen the dealer drop the ball on ordering, I have seen a dealer be behind on their bill/credit with the manufacturer and not be able to actually place the order.
I would ask the dealer for your area's mizuno rep's name and contact info and verify the back order.
I know a rep and will ask him if those are on backorder or short supply if you would like me to.
Something just doesn't seem right with the story.

This seems odd to me as well, and if it were me, I would get ahold of them directly. Try to see how far you can go and get into contact with the highest person you can. Be patient and calm with that person, and just gently explain your story. If it takes to long with them, or you are making no progress, then I think it is fair to be a bit more firm with them and let me know your disappointment. No company wants this.

I custom ordered a set with PX 6.5 and had them in hand within a week. Also, I did not have to prepay. Per some of the comments above, I would check with Mizuno directly and see if there is a credit problem with the dealer. If so, contact your source of payment - if by credit card, they will protect you to make sure you weren't scammed.

Yes...contact Mizuno direct. Get all the nitty gritty details you can....order date especially. Cross verify everything your dealer has been telling you, and then make a decision. Although I'm a loyal Mizuno player...10 weeks is too long to wait for anything. If what your dealer is saying holds up, persue a refund and shop elswhere. PM me if you want a 100% reliable guy I know who can have your clubs to you in 5 days, spec'd out as you desire. Cheers.

+1 on the posts about the problem being with the pro shop and not Mizuno. I know they have an internal mandate to get ALL custom orders out in a week so this seems really odd. Please call Mizuno and get directly to customer service to sort throught the problem. Not only is Mizuno a GREAT product, the company is excellent to work with.

The only time I ever had a problem with a custom set of Mizuno irons I ended up having to contact my credit card company to get my money back. It had nothing to do with Mizuno though. The crooks that called themselves dealers had taken hundreds of ordered and put the money in their pocket without ever ordering a thing.

I'm not suggesting it's anyone's fault but I would make sure all my basis are covered, including taking action before it becomes too late to do so. Not sure you paid but make sure you don't get talked into going past the dates that allow you to dispute. I would call Mizuno immediately as well.

If the response from your pro shop was that Mizuno was low on quantities of heads I wonder if it has something to do with the earthquake in Japan this past Spring. Just a guess.

I too, ordered a set of MP-53's, X-100 Soft stepped, 1* up, ribbed grips, etc, etc. Custom order placed this past Monday, and they arrived at my door Thursday afternoon.

Something is not right. Maybe your golf shop dealer has not been paying their Mizuno bill, and Mizuno is holding off on filling anymore orders from that specific shop.

Have you talked to Mizuno directly?

Hi Everyone,


I phoned Mizuno directly and they admited it was their fault, shortage of the Rifle shafts and my order somehow got lost in the system ETA is late june. As compensation they have knocked $150 off the price I've paid already refundable at the dealer.
(not the golf shop's problem they recived the order on 4-April-2011)

Can't complain about the price of the MP68 irons, when I sell my existing MP19 I'll be near break even with a new set of clubs.


Seems Mizuno do care and were prepared to offer compensation for my trouble.

This seems like an anomaly, my combo set arrived to spec within 1 week, and wedges ordered custom through Golfsmith took 9 days. I agree you should ask for something in return for your patience...if you want 1 wedge, ask for 2 or 3, worse case scenario is they say no and know they're on notice for cancelling a ~$1000 order.
