Just heard from a source that Srixon is coming out with another new ball called the Q Star ball. If I had to guess, I would assume it's a competitor for the B330RX but that's totally speculative. Anyone hear anything?

What a nice ball. Played yesterday in the sauna (temp was 108* at tee time) with the Yellow version. I cannot imagine playing anything other than this if you don't want to play a tour ball. Gamer distance, but a lot more spin on the 20-70 yard shots. Straight off the driver, high and long with irons, more spin than I could have ever expected around the green for $25. All in all, a nice ball.

(I know this is a little general, but I'm only a 1.8 hcap, and I hate reading reviews about balls. If you don't want to spend $45, these are the best available right now, IMO.)

So I guess this is their replacement for the AD333 since they're both 2-piece balls? The few reviews I've read have all been positive, nice to hear they were able to achieve decent spin around the greens with a 2-piece ball. I plan on testing these vs my trusty e6's, if they're as straight off the tee with more spin around the greens- I'm in.

I would say there is definitely more spin on the sub-100 yard shots than with e6. It was noticable, especially in the 15-20 yard range.

They changed to the same 324 dimple design that the rest of Srixon's balls use. Other than that the specs and dimensions look to be identical to the AD333.

The core is different as well. There is a great difference between the outer part of the E.G.G. Core and the center.

Bought a sleeve of these today and I agree with the above comment. I normally play the Nike One Tour which I still think is a softer and spins a touch more but for the price this a great option. I havent played a better ball under 30.00 than this one.

2nd full round yesterday. My new ball. Even on baked greens that look like Shinnecock, they held well. Very straight on mishits, very long. Spins enough for me (I'm a high spin player) that I can't see playing a tour ball instead. Didn't shear, even on the waist high 75 yd 60* shots that i was trying to spin the bejesus out of. Really good ball, especially for 25 bucks a pop.

Characteristics sound similar to the XV, that I've now stockpiled seven dozen of, at an average of just under $30 a dozen from the Bay.

Srixon is making some great golf balls these days, no doubt.

First round impression.: Not bad. It held up well to the shredders aka Jaws with spinners. Distance was the same as trispeeds though a touch less spin. But not a bad ball, as someone else said this will make a good winter ball

It is nothing like the B330 RX. The Q Star is a 75 compression suryln 2 piece ball.

They will not be as straight as an E6 due to them only being a 2 piece ball and much firmer then the E6. I don't think you will like them as well.

There are some other forums where people have been comparing the e6 and Q Star since they are similar in price. I tried the e6 back at the beginning of summer and it flew about like the Trispeeds I was playing. Still had a little fade with the driver and couldn't get the e6 to hold a green (though the greens were firm and pretty fast and not overly large). I've been playing the Q Star for the past 4 rounds and have been impressed. It's been straight off the tee and has plenty of distance as well as a decent amount of spin around the greens. It's not a Z Star or ProV1 or any other tour caliber ball by any means but for its price, I haven't played anything better. Of course, this is just my experience.

How will it compare to last years Z-star model,I have been playing the Nike Vapor from 2009 which i like alot, but yesterday i used a 2010 Z-star for 6 holes and i was very impressed.I know the vapor is lower compression so it seems like it would compare favorably to the Q-star,it seemed like i lost about a half of a club on iron shots but i liked the Zstar alot off the driver,so i am hoping it might be a combination of the Zstar and the Vapor..Any thoughts?

Again, any surlyn ball is going to be drastically different than a urethane ball. The QStar is replacing the AD333 so if you have played that in the past that will be the closest comparison.

i think the vapor has an isonomer cover, and i dont have any problems holding greens with it but they are done making it they now have the vapor speed which i dont like, what i was hoping is to get the xtra distance with the driver that i got with the z-star and still get the xtra distance with my irons like the vapor.I guess the only way to find out is to head to golf galaxy!!!
