Makes me a bit sad. I was member #24 over there and had a lot of good times.

I even remember when the forum first launched, it was sharing some sort of username list with the new golf channel site. So when I signed up, I had to be dcmidnightii.

RIP.

I will miss it. Not much for equipment anymore, but was fun to poke around in the politics folder.

That was a huge forum 10 plus years back. Tour spec golf forums dead as well.

I visit several of these golf forums daily for various types of information related to this game we all love. I've noticed I can no longer access the GEA forums. Does anyone here know what has happened to this site? When I try to go there I get an error message. Have any of you had the same problem or is it just me?

Unless you back door the site using an old thread you cannot get in. You can still post - there is a 25 post thread running questioning what happened and whether it is going to re-start. One of the guys has started a new GEA website, but call me hornery (I'm one of the original members) or just plain lazy, but I don't want to start all over again.

One of the guys has started a new GEA website, but call me hornery (I'm one of the original members) or just plain lazy, but I don't want to start all over again.

I assume "hornery" is a typo. If not, it's the best neologism in a while. We should start a thread with suggested definitions!

I was a member. In a good way it best if it does go away. Some good guys there but the last several months it became a real negative forum. Personal attacks were very common.

WRX has a very professional look and is structured well. Prefer it over GEA.

Looks like all of the troll accounts/alternate ID's finally crashed the site.

It was a great site for quite some time, but between the trolls and the people who fed them, it lost its charm.

Longtime GEA member. I used to call it the font of all knowledge.

While I hope it comes back, I agree with others that the negativity was taking its toll.

That jerk Anser ruined the place....everything became an attack and fight. Then he created several other usernames and destroyed everything that Derrick brilliantly created. What a shame . RIP 4GEA!

Long time member at GEA although seldom posted the past few years.. Sorry to see it die but it was just not the same as in the old days. It seemed as though a few posters ruined the site for others. Really tired of the snarkiness. Back in the day it was a great source of golf knowlege. We had some fun golf outings in Lafayette, Louisiana for a few years around Easter.

Happy to be a member now at GolfWRX.

Lot of good people there...... I mostly stayed away from the futility folder.

I started to enjoy GEA much more after I stopped going to the futility folder (politics). Sorry to see it go.

It’s kind of amazing seeing it come to an end as it became a daily ritual to go out there for 20 years. Easily the site I visited most which is kind of funny since it became just about anything other than golf for about a decade.

Almost feel like I should hold a service or at least buy a club while deleting the bookmark.
