Great thread! Go Buckeyes!!!!!

Just Played @ Kennsington http://www.kennsingtongolf.com in Canfield and came away very impressed. The layout was great as well as the conditions for as much rain as we have had. The greens are huge and very challenging, some of the fastest I have seen recently! ( I took the wrong putter thinking they would be slow with all the rain!) :russian_roulette: Price during the week for Fall season is only $25 and $35 on weekends.

We could have a Big 10 golfwrx.com meet next summer! Have it somewhere in the middle like Indianaopolis?

I was going to suggest just a Michigan vs Ohio meet but we would have to pay extra for security, police fines & hospital bills! :bb: = :vava: < :friends:

Well as the originator of the now seemingly defunct Maryland thread and a Ohio native, I say congratulations and good luck with the thread. I grew up in Beavercreek and played a lot of the Dayton area courses, including Commuity Golf Course, Cassel Hills in Vandalia. Beavercreek Golf Club opened after I moved away but I have played it a couple times when back in town.

I have friends in the Columbus area and I kow there are a lot of good courses there that I hope to get out visit sometime. An Ohio location would be pretty convenient for al 3 states to meet in and play. Something to think about for 2012. I may have a trip coming up to Twinsburg, but unfortuneatly it may be after the weather turns too cold for golf.

I will be in the Cleveland area the first weekend of December. I'm guessing by then I'd be better off bringing my ice fishing gear instead of the clubs?

Unfortunately, you are correct, haha. I love in NE Ohio and every time I go down to see some relatives in Cincy, it's in the winter so I can't play the courses down there...and their sure are some good courses in and around that city.

Just a bit of information that will probably be of interest to some on here. I heard a few weeks ago that the plan is to take Shaker Run back to a private course. Finding that hard to believe, I finally called the course, and spoke with someone there. Apparently, I wasn't being bs'd by the fella who originally told me. I was told that Shaker will remain a public course next year, but they would like to be fully private within 2 seasons or so. They are going to try and build up membership I guess. One of the original owners of the course is back as an owner once again. It was private many years ago.

I play Shaker quite a bit. It's definitely gone downhill over the past 5-10 years, but it's still a fantastic course (when those greens on Woodlands aren't lost). I am sure going private would put it back to the course it was back in the 80's and 90's. Then again, not a whole lot of us would be playing it any longer. I would consider joining depending on where my next move took me.

Stonewater in Highland heights will be fully private starting next year. I think they are still open for the season now. Guys,If you have never played there, cancel everything but your wedding and get out there while you still can. It's truly fantastic. And if you have any game at all, play from the tips. On quite a few holes its actually preferable because the 2nd set of sees leaves you between clubs. Play from the tips and rip away. Its awesome.

By the way, I live 5 minutes from that golf dome in bainbridge, I dread when i have to go in there and pay my monthly unlimited pass money. because that means snow.

Thanks for theheads up on the dome. Although I don't know if it's worth the hassle of bringing the clubs just to hit some balls indoors :)

Do they offer demo clubs there you can try out on a LM or anything. Might be worth it do try some out some drivers...to see if one should go on my X-Mas list :)

I have only been there once as it is about 45 minutes from my place, so I am not sure about demo stuff. They do have a lot of targets to shoot at and it was a fun place to practice. After my shoulder surgery I will be heading there a few times to get my game back in shape. Great place to work on ball flight with the scoring clubs because you can hit at the targets on the back wall and get a feel for the height of the shot. The only bad thing is your hitting off mats unless you take your own truestrike mat or something similar.

Joe, I see you're from the falls...have you ever played Brookledge? I've been wanting to play there for a while but just never got around to it. If you've played there, how is it?
Brookledge is my home course! For a muni it is very nice. Greens can be fast to very fast and some of the best around. It is not a long track but it is holds up very well to par. I think a 67 is the course record since they have made some changes, so that is not too bad. My best has been a 68 but that was before the changes and I just shot a 69 2 weeks ago. Let me know in the spring if you want to come play, I will show you around. (hopefully only the fairways and greens!) LOL

Did you bring your sticks to Cleveland this weekend? It ended up being a pretty decent weekend for golf, considering it is December. I played 18 Saturday at Good Park in Akron and would have played Sunday before the rain, but had a free ticket to the Browns game.

Any other WRXers play at Golf Club of Dublin, west of Columbus?
I almost played there when I was in Colombus for a summer baseball tournament but that probably wouldn't look good whacking golf balls around on the day of one of our baseball games. Kinda wish I would've now after the fact.
