Scratch gone crazy. SDI Raw Tour Wedge Pics!!! All the grinds...

Recommended Posts

Here are the descriptions of the 6 different special Tour Grinds. They are the ones painted with the different colors and with the different color ferrules. You can see which one is what grind by the stamping on the hosel. These are 100% Tour Issue and Tour only but we will be offering a very limited amount to WRXers. They have been VERY popular amongst their Tour players. The other RH ones are also 100% Tour Issue and Tour only they are Raw finish versions of their normal DD, DS and SS grinds.

The LH ones are standard retail Satin Chrome 8620s.

Here is an awesome guide the different grinds that can be ordered...

DOG - The DOG grind features a moderate-high effective bounce angle (12*). The DOG has a full sole with a rolled heel, giving it only a little bit of relief. The grind has a moderate amount of camber, making it more more versatile for different lies and playing conditions. It also makes it easier to open the face around the greens without the leading edge coming too far off the ground. The fuller sole makes it more stable out of bunkers and out of deeper rough.

SLT - The SLT grind features a moderate effective bounce angle (12*). The SLT has a medium width sole that features moderate trailing edge relief along with aggressive relief in the heel and toe. The bounce and camber help prevent fat shots while the relief allows the player to open the face without raising the leading edge.

EBN - The EBN grind features a moderate effective bounce angle (9*). The EBN has a medium width sole and little camber. It also has a moderate trailing edge relief and aggressive relief in the heel and toe. This relief allows the leading edge to stay close to the ground even when the face is opened for higher, softer shots around the greens. The combination of bounce and sole width allows it to be more effective on fuller shots and shots from the bunker.

FAW - The FAW grind features a lower effective bounce angle (6*). The FAW has a medium width sole that features relief in the center of the trailing edge and no relief in the heel and toe. It features a moderate amount of camber and a leading edge that sits close to the ground to help prevent thin shots. The FAW plays like a thinner-soled wedge from tight or bad lies and like a full-soled wedge when opened up and from the sand.

SPN - The SPN features a lower effective bounce angle (5*). The SPN has a full sole that has no relief. It has an extreme amount of camber and is designed to help prevent thin shots. The fuller sole provides increased stability on full shots and for shots from the bunker. The low bounce angle and camber allow the leading edge to stay close to the ground even with the face open.

LBE - The LBE features a lower effective bounce angle (4*). The LBE has a thin effective sole with aggressive heel, toe and trailing edge relief. This allows the leading edge to stay closer to the ground even when the face is opened up allowing for higher, softer shots around the greens. The lower bounce and thinner sole limits ground contact and thin shots. The moderate camber allows it to play more like a wider sole wedge out of the bunker.

Shame (not hating, just saying) that the left-handed versions are chromed, rather than raw like the righty ones. In my opinion, it doesn't matter which side of the ball you stand on... raw is cool.

Also, I think the title is wrong... it says "SDI" instead of "STI" for "Scratch Tour Issue", as noted in the body of the posting.

Titleist.

Sorry, but I am confused. What do you mean there are a limited number being offerred? Are these not available at any time through Scratch?

These were made exclusively for the PGA Tour but we are offering a limited amount of them for sale to GolfWRX members. These are 6 grinds that are usually only available in our hand ground Tour Custom Dept Don White ground wedges. We made a small run of them in 8620 for the Tour. Normally the 8620s are only available in the standard SS, DS and DD grinds. These are only available in 60* but can be bent from 58* - 62*.

We also have a limited amount of Tour Issue raw standard grind 8620s in 47*, 50*, 53*, 56*, 58* and 60* available for GolfWRX members. The normal 8620s are only available in Satin. We can also do custom finishes on any of these wedges for a small up charge.

Anyone that is interested send me an email [email protected] and I will get you taken care of.

I'm confused, so they are all basically easy from the bunker? Or what? First one is "more stable" ..More stable than what? The other grinds? No, that can't be because the third one is apparently "more effective from the bunker"..More effective than the first? No, wait, the 4th one is "like a full-soled wedge when opened up and from the sand.".
So, why bother with the first one? This seems like at least as good from the sand?
Then again the 5th one has "The fuller sole provides increased stability on full shots and for shots from the bunker." Increased compared to...?
But of course the last one must be it, since it has that "moderate camber allows it to play more like a wider sole wedge out of the bunker." Making all the others obsolete I guess.

Ok, not confusing at all, they are all equally good out of the bunker, makes sense.
This is an unfortunate example of a maker unable to describe the product as anything but fantastic for all conditions and all versions are equally fantastic. Why not just say that the thin soled one will be a lot less easy to hit out of the bunker but it will give certain players with a specific swing certain advantages and so on? This become slightly ridiculous, when every model is equally as good it seems.

Each of these grinds is designed to be effective out of bunkers. It is the other characteristics that set them apart from each other and make them fit different individual players. If anyone has a questions which grind they would fit into best based on their individual needs and swing email me [email protected] and I will help you figure it out.

lefty????

Unfortunately no lefty at this time. We do have normal 8620 and 1018s in stock in LH. If there is enough interest we might do a small run of Black PVD 8620s in LH.
