Titleist GranZ

Recommended Posts

The New Titleist GranZ Golf Ball was designed pursuing the maximum performance of golf balls. The first highly efficient 3-piece golf ball made up of materials and structure that promise high rebounding jump at impact.

The new Titleist GranZ Silver and Titleist GranZ Golf (with guide line). This premium golf ball demonstrated a strong and straight nature for average golfers. It not only lengthens shots, but also realizes a high initial ball speed and low spin with its two-layer core structure and newly developed flexible cover. The golfer realizes a great feel and touch.

The Titleist GranZ Golf Ball features:

■ Two layer core (Dual Core). This two layer core structure is made of a super soft inner core and a super elastic outer core. This powerful combination promotes a high initial ball speed and low spin, and raies the performance of the ball.

■ The newly developed flexible (Shima) Cover. This cover was developed with a focus on aero dymanics which reduces air resistance and a strong ballistic trajectory. It has 330 dimples. Also, it has a great feel and touch.

I bought two dozen at the local GG and have played 2 rounds with the Gran Z. My ball of choice is B-330S, so comparatives of Gran Z are vs. B-330s.

Driver -Soft feel, but the ball jumps off the club face long and straight. Slightly softer feeling than B-330s, but 5-10 yards longer. Both days were fairly windy with some changes in direction during the round resulting in a swirling pattern. Gran Z seemed to bore through the wind and was less prone to fading or drawing with the wind than the B-330S.

Irons - Soft but solid feel on full shots. very comparable to B-330s. Ball flight on the GranZ was slightly lower, due IMO to lower spin rates. The first course had been aerated and sanded about a week prior. and had been mowed higher than normal, the second had been aerated and sanded 2-3 weeks prior and had been rolled and mowed tightly. On the first course both balls basically hit and quit on the relatively long soft greens. On the course with firmer, tighter greens the GranZ tended to release significantly more that the B-330S on full iron shots. In close the GranZ performs better, some low spinners in close actually checked up shorter than I expected, but still had less spin that the B-330.

Putting - Here both balls were nearly equal in feel and performance. ( I do not find the alignment marker on the Gold version at all aesthetically pleasing)

At the $88 a dozen price alleged in Japan, I would not give the GranZ a second look, but at $18/dz it compares very favorably to Srixon AD333 which is a very good winter ball.

Played 18 with these Friday (temps near 60 here in Colorado). The greens are already playing to winter conditions, so higher spin balls weren't sticking. The Gran Zs felt pretty nice for a distance ball, I like low compression balls and these felt only a bit harder than my Hogans. Felt pretty nice putting. an all around solid ball, though I wouldn't use it in summer due to it being lower spin. But hey, for $15 a dozen, they're a pretty good bargain ;)

I picked up a dozen of these from the impulse box near the register at my local Golf Galaxy. They were $1.50 a piece, so for $18 I figured, what the hell.

I played 18 holes with them and found them to be the best $18/dozen ball I've ever played. They sort of play like the NXT Tour. My ball of choice remains the Cally HX Tour but for less than half the price, these played more than half as well. So it was a pretty good deal. Good for winter golf.

I recieved four dozen of the GranZ Gold from a buddy's son in AZ last week. I was duly impressed with the distance and feel on these balls. The ball was a bit softer than the Pro V1X that I currently use. The balls checked up on the greens with no problem and it released beautifully on pitch and chip shots.

Would I spend the $80 asking price in Japan? Heck no, but I definitely will play these babies for free as long as I can get them. :friends:

Very solid golf ball for the price. I switched to these from the proV/nxt tours that i have been using with no decline in performance. The lo spin characteristic is a perfect combo for my R510TP! I hit the longest drives of my life in my last round at the Disney Palms course, and the ball behaves on the greens.

I am not sure how long they will be available over here, but grab a few while you can!
