I had a buddy buy some Bulleit. I didn't like it at all. Maybe I'm just not really fond of the rye.

Had some Bookers last night at dinner. Man.. that is some good stuff for as hot as it is. 128 proof, and it's smooth as can be. Enjoyed it pretty well.

Not bourbon, but give High West Rendezvous rye a try. Mighty fine!

Where I'm from, there aren't many choices in Bourbon. Rye seems to rule. And scotch is a close second.

So we get the usual JD and Jim Beam, which are okay, but if I find Wild Turkey on the shelf, it's mine!

Soo.... my search has lead me to a stash of Pappy Van Winkle.. I want it.

However... the problem is, I wanted the younger stuff, mainly for cost at this point. They only have the 23 year, and it's $324 a bottle..

I think I might sell a club and go get me a bottle.

I jut went on a search for Pappy Van Winkle... I missed the release by a week. So sad.... it's a really frustrating process to even find the stuff (outside of e-bay).

Personally, I think the 15yr is great for the price. I have a bottle of the 20 with one glass taken out of it, and an unopened bottle of the 12 that I might break into tomorrow during the game.

There was a small liquor store in a suburban strip mall that had a couple of bottles when I randomly popped in last year. Being a newbie and not knowing any better, I didn't grab them. A couple of weeks later, I went back for them and they were gone. The owner said he had them in the case for months - probably the 2010 release.

So it is possible, but it's like finding a needle in the haystack.

Late last year, I picked up the 15 and 20 year, both from Bevmo. They never made it to the shelves though, you need to find out when they are expected to arrive and ask them to call you when they do. I was politelty persistant and would check in every now and then. They got to know me. Even then it's a matter of luck as obviously the demand far outweighs the supply.

If you are ever in Kentucky, the bourbon trail, especially the woodford distillery, is well worth the time.

I am surprised no one has mentioned it, Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage is the best bourbon I have had for the money. Eagle Rare, Bulleit, Buffalo Trace, and Old Forrester Signature are all really good too. My biggest problem is that there are so many good bourbons, I need to buy a different bottle every time I am in a liquor store. I have accumulated close to 40 bottles in the past few months of various whiskeys (I like them all Scotch, Irish, Bourbon, Rye, Canadian) and none are gone yet.

Yeah... it's a pain in the a**. I actually bought a bottle of Rip Van Winkle (10yr) today for $25... it's no Pappy 15, but it will do... got it at Kroger.

I have had the devil's cut... OAKY is how I'd describe it. If that sounds good to you, you will probably like it.

Anything Old Forrester is good, Birthday, Single Barrel, Signature... the birthday is a little overpriced.

One of my friends works for Brown-Forman, and I'm hoping she brings a bottle of Double Oaked Woodford Reserve tonight.

It's a great time to be a bourbon drinker.

I live in Utah so I am limited to what the state owned liquer stores sell. But I like Wild Turkey and Makers but I live in Patk City and enjoy everything from High West.

My last trip, I sampled a few of their small batch offerings and was really pleased with this one...

I used to only drink Beam. Then i was introduced to Makers Mark. Drank only that for while. Then I found Knob Creek, and that is my new favorite.

Very nice... my one complaint with Pappy is it is too hard to get, so then I worry about drinking it, because then I won't have any... so I don't drink it... which makes me sad.

I hear that. I actually was able to get 2 bottles so far in this spring release so Im able to sip on one every now and then and keep the other one stashed away.

Yes! The spring shipments are out, so anyone seeking one of the highly coveted bottles, now is the time to visit your local store and speak with the manager.

Usually they never make it to the shelves. Half the fun is the chase.

I'm definitely in the Blanton's camp for favorite bourbon. After that it's a tough call, I haven't had any of the super pricey/rare stuff.

I enjoy Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit, but that is definitely a little more fiery than the Blanton's, Black Maple Hill was also quite good. Four Roses Single Barrel might have been the smoothest whiskey of any kind I've ever had.

I discovered Four Roses when I moved to Kentucky... it was almost a religious experience. It's what got me into bourbon. Before that I was drinking whiskey sours, the occasional manhattan... it was a sad time!

I'm currently drinking Kirkland Bourbon (Costco Brand) and it's awesome. I don't have any ice, because I forgot to refill the trays, so I mixed it with diet coke, like a heathen. It's still very good.

The new Double Oaked Woodford Reserve is worth a try. I haven't discovered any NEW bourbons recently, and need to get back on the prowl. My obsession with Pappy needs to be filed away. It's money better spent on golf!

I'm haven't had too many types of burbon but I've got some Woodford and thats ok. I'm more of a Irish & Canadian whiskey fan myself.

On an interesting burbon mixed drink note, my brother mixed some makers with cranberry juice on a few occasions and it's actually pretty good. He calls it a winter plum.

Woodford Reserve has become my new favorite! It was excellent in an old fashioned (Simple Syrup, bitters, bourbon...no soda or water!!!) and excellent on the rocks.

Another vote for Bulleit, love that stuff for the price (and I'm on a tight budget). I really liked the one bottle of Woodford Reserve I had, even though it was partly responsible for one of the two worst hangovers I've ever experienced.
