Forget my earlier post.....not hype...
I picked up an American Classic Heavy Flange and love it! The feel of leather is amazing.

What is the recommended care for leather grips? Just use any leather care product and how often?

Just like a potato chip, you can never have just one. Looking forward for the collection to grow.

The American Classic III with the heavy flange has always been attractive to me.  It reminds me so much of the style of the first putter I ever had (I am sure this is true for many people).

I think that is why I bought this one. I guess I am too old school. I have trouble with the MOI putters. I have a monza corza putter (which is nice), but it does not provide enough feed back. I make the putts, but it does not provide the same satisfaction. The scotty just feels right when I am holding, it feels pure.

I have not taken it to the course yet, but it felt great in my living room!

Great purchase! I love CAmerons as well (I have 3 Newport/Newport II's).

For the leather - I would use a good leather cleaner like "Lexol", followed by a non-greasy conditioner (again, like "Lexol"). I swear by this stuff, for conditioning my car leather seats, as well as my leather jackets and furniture in the house.

Thanks for the info on the leather conditioner.  Might have to try it on my car seats also.

Re: Lexol

I've used these products on my car seats for years, but just recently restored the grip of my 1966 Acushnet Bullseye putter with it. Not expecting much, I was amazed at the results. From very dark brown with near black ridges to a pretty good shade of the original medium dark reddish-brown. An application of mink oil after a few applications of the conditioner and it even has a slightly tacky feel.

Ps: This stuff is available at most good auto parts stores and some marine outlets.

Lexol is the only thing I use on my car seats. Great stuff.

If you want to know exactly what you should use on the grips, head over to the Gripmaster site. They make the leather grips for Scotty. There was some BS going around at one time that Scotty purchased a grip company, but that's all been debunked.

PER THEIR WEBSITE...this is what you should do and what I've been doing with my AC VII:

Aftercare

Congratulations on the purchase of your Grip Master Genuine Leather Hand Wrapped Golf Grips. If properly cared for they will outlast, and out perform, synthetic golf grips!

Genuine leather is a natural material and like all premium quality real leather products the performance and life span of these products can be enhanced and extended with the proper after care treatments.

IMPORTANT:

Please do not use any detergents, or any other chemicals, to clean your grips. Do not use any waxes or silicon-based leather treatments as they will seriously restrict the ability of the leather to breath and to activate the PROTACKTM. Simply wipe them down with a wet or moist towel in plain water (hot or cold).

Gripmaster has a whole bunch of great looking, great playing leather grips. I believe they just came out with an Emu skin grip. Very BLING!

Here's the website.
