Cobra Baffler DWS

Recommended Posts

Cobra originated the utility metal. Now we're making golf?s #1 utility metal even better. Introducing the new Baffler from Cobra, the Baffler DWS. DWS stands for "Dual Weighting System." That means one of the most forgiving clubs ever just got more forgiving. Baffler DWS features a Hotter 9 Points clubface with greater flex across the face for superior distance and accuracy.

Does anyone have an opinion on this club? I'm looking to replace my 3 iron with an easy-to-hit hybrid.

With all the different types out there , I'm having a difficult time choosing. By the way, I've only been playing about two years ( not that great yet - lol ).

One more question for you golfers out there. What have you heard about the Kasco itility clubs? Are they any good?

Thanks.

Just so happens I hit the 18 degree (2 iron replacement) Baffler DWS for about 45 minutes this afternoon at a demo day. WOW!! Just kept hitting it long and straight (actually a slight draw which is my preferred ball flight). Really easy to hit and I got great results even on so-so swings. Equally good off the deck and on a tee. Larger sized head inspires confidence at address. Nice boring trajectory into a 15 to 20 mph wind in Chicago today.

My biggest issue is whether to buy the DWS or the Pro version. After hitting many balls, I felt like the DWS was just a touch more forgiving and a touch higher ball flight than the Pro and is about $30 cheaper. Honestly, I would be happy with either one. Tried to buy one on the way home from the course, but Golf Galaxy only had 10 Regular Flexes in stock, I need Stiff. Bummer!!

I really like the Cobra DWS hybrids, I have the 18, 20, 23, and 26 degree models with the Nippon NS Pro 950 Stiff steel shafts. I find them very easy to hit from the fairway or the rough. I think that the steel shafts add some consistency over the graphite shafted version. Ball flight is high and strong and can be worked either way, but much easier to hit right to left.

I only cary the 18, and 23 degree models on a regular basis, but if I am going to a course with some rough, I will put the 26 degree in the bag. This club is great for digging out of tough lies in the rough or the bunker. There is not much difference in distance between the 18, and 20 degree models.

I used the Callaway FT-Hybrids prior to the Cobra Baffler and like the Cobras much better!

I bought the 20* last year and loved it. Added the 23* and 26* this year and has really helped my approach shots from 160+. All with stock graphite shafts, R flex. Higher trajectory than long irons lets you hold the green from distance once in a while. Previously has the TM Rescue Mid but Cobra was longer and more forgiving. Love these.

I love my Cobra DWS I have 2-6. Started with the 18 deg to replace my Callaway X 5 wood and was able to hit it more consistently. It grew from there and just got a 29 deg last week. Nice and straight. Have been a Cobra nut since. Just got the S9 II graphite and my scores are dropping. Considering replacing my Callaway X 3W with a Cobra LD or a 16 deg DWS.

I picked one of these up in a 2 iron equivalent and love it. I tried against Adams and Mizuno on the simulator and it performed the best. I was nervous that it would not

be the same on the course but it is. It is longer and straighter than the Nickent 3DX that I have. I now have a club for short par4s with tight fairways as this club just wants to

go straight.

I've had this club for about a year now. Picked up the 18 deg with stiff shaft and I'd have to say it's probably my favorite club in the bag. I hit it nice, straight, high, and long, which is just about everything you could ask for in a club. I even started saying, "It's baffler time!" whenever I take it out of the bag. Overall, I'm very happy with the club.

Now that I play G10 irons I can hit 4 and 5 irons well, less need for hybrids. Still have the Cobra 3/R but switching between G10 4-iron, Cobra 3/R and then 5-wood or 3-wood -- too many different club types in the bag. Looking to consolidate to one brand/type in the long clubs.

Have been using a Rescue Mid 16* with Ultralite Stiff for several years, but decided that I needed something with a softer flex and and a higher ballflight.

Recently attended a Cobra demo day and hit the Baffler DWS 18* and 20*, both in regular flex. Found the Cobra hybrids to be longer and more forgiving than my RM and, most importantly, provided the higher ballflight that I was looking for. FWIW, I was more consistent with the 20* loft, with little distance loss compared to the 18* club.

Subsequently, did another range demo of the DWS 20* and a G10 21*, both with Regular flex. Found the DWS to be more forgiving and longer, with a "hotter" feel which may be attributed to the maraging face. Also found that the G10 had a slight hook tendency on mis-hits, not unlike the RM which has a "healthy" amount of draw-bias. Was really hoping that the G10 would win out, since it would have been a nice match with my G10 driver. The results, however, were undeniable.

Long story short, a Baffler DWS 20* with Aldila VS Proto-HL 65-R is now sitting in the bag. The move to a softer flex and higher loft was definitely a step in the right direction.

I've had a 20* '07 model (NS Pro) for a couple of weeks now and it kicked the 21* G10 (AWT) out of the bag. I preferred the sound, feel, balance, and heft of the PING but the flight and results with the Baffler made it the clear winner for me.

The Baffler has a more fairway wood sound and feel to it which is quite different from other hybrids I've tried (Adams, Bridgestone, Sonartec, and PING). The NS Pro shaft is easy to get in the air but I find the ball flight to be considerably flatter than the AWT shaft G10.

I've gamed the 3 and 4 Cobra Baffler DWS 2007 hybrids for about 18 months now, and I have to say that I love them. When I'm having an off day, I can usually grab one of these instead of my 3 wood and put it down the middle and far. When I'm on, I can absolutely pound both of my hybrids far and high with ease. These hybrids are wonderful, and especially for the discounted older model pricing, you really can't go wrong.

Went to the range a few weeks ago and tried out a few hybrids. The Cobra was easily the straightest and most forgiving. I even hit it well off the toe (hit it there on purpose) I hit the X better than the stiff and all they had was an 07 model23* 4 in X so I bought it. I been lookin for a 2 or 3 with an X to go with it. I would like to try one with a DG X-100 tho to see if its a lil more consistent tho.

I've played the Baffler DWS 20* VS Proto 65HL stiff for a year now. This is my "go too" club. The Baffler replaced my 2 & 3 iron, 210 choked down with a smooth swing and up to 230 with a good tear at it.

The shaft feels a little soft but some how it fits my swing, no matter what swing I deliver at the time. Produces a medium high flight that will stop on a green but yet is good off the tee with decent roll. Need only tee it up a half inch or so, it will balloon if hit on the upper part of the face. Very forgiving, likely the most versatile club I've ever owned. I'm considering getting the 16* since the Baffler is so easy to hit well. Golfsmith just put them on sale since Cobra just came out with a new Baffler TWS. Likely the very best hybrid out there.
