Interview & Pics: Adams Super Hybrid XTD and Super Fairway XTD

The Adams hitting area always seems packed on demo day and this year was no exception. Maybe everyone was reaching for the Fast 12 Series but Zak and I were hunting for the Super Fairway and Super Hybrid, which were in short supply. Jeff from Adams was able to track down one of each so we could hit them. These are badass just based on the soleplate alone. Zak stepped into a bay and was lacing high, low spin bombs that traveled forever. Real Fubuki too -- not some 'made for' shaft. Not that this was a surprise, but they really stood out.

Greg interviewed Justin from Adams and it's a good watch. Good insight on the technology.

Man, I just cannot get use to looking at that slot channel as I'm staring down at the club. I'm sure that Adams will have another winner here though.

I really like these. Trying to hold off on buying the fast12 17 degree to replace my g15 4 wood. The ax shaft should be enough to do it.

Is there no 24 hybrid planned? I think all I have seen is 21.

I never thought anything could replace my old school launcher 13*, but these clubs might get a chance. Really nice looking at address.

IMO, the velocity slot helps frame the ball. They look great.

Really interested in the Super XTD 13 Degree. Especially since it has the Fubuki Alpha Shaft in it. Any idea about price point for each of these?

How forgiving are they?

Got to demo one of these at the local edwin watts over the weekend. Adams demo day. This with the real deal fubuki is just nasty. Rep said it would be $299 retail with the fubuki.

looks awesome, can't wait to try the fwy wood.

These sound like they're going to be serious performers. Adams is bringing it this year.

Saw them in person - can't do silver - looks DIY.

Dean, I was at that demo day too (Concord Store). That line up from the LS driver to the XTD fairway and hybrid are just rediculous. I was hitting absolute lasers. So much for going white this year, I'll be going satin with a slot within a slot.

If those hybrids are workable, I'm all in! They look great. Definitely a "different" finish with the silver/grey though. It looks like it glares a little bit and the slot is a little tough to look at, but I'm going to give the hybrid a good work through. Adam's is tops in that category...

Hit a few balls with the hybrid and you forget all about the slot. The performance will blow you away. Personally I think the silver head looks really good. Can't really speak of glare since we were inside though.

If the 3 wood is bendable, I'd be willing to give them a shot. I was with the rep the other day and he only had the F12s. The A12 hybrids are bendable for lie, which is nice, but I can't hit a 3wood at a 58*/59* lie...

Got to hit the hybrid and the fairway wood today. FW is great, same ballspeed and overall performance as the RBZ but with a much different feel and look. I prefer the look of the Adams, more traditional profile(slot doesn't bother me) and be it the shaft or the head the club felt more solid and less metallic to me. Loved it. Really hoping to add one to the bag. Joe

Are these in stores or are you hitting them at demo days? There are no demo days coming up in my area anytime soon. I think I am getting a fast12 LS and a 15 degree xtd. 19 degree hybrid and round it out with a 24 degree a12.

I was able to hit the 14.5* XTD and 19* hybrid with my rep. He was able to supply us with a demo of each so we can get them in peoples hands. Looks like something we should probably get a number of pre-orders out of. Joe

Thanks. I will talk to the guys at the store and see what they can get. I will preorder but I am usually between shaft flexes. I think I can handle a stiff per the chart on the MRC website with a 93-95 ss, smooth transistion.

High = flight
Low spin = low spin

ended my personal demo day a couple of days ago with the superfairway. I couldn't miss with it. shaft felt great. I put this up against the rbz fairway and the adams outperformed it. Off the tee the rbz was awesome but off the mat it sucked for me. The superfairway was great with a tee and without. definitely way different feel between the 2. rbz was loud cracking sound, superfairway much more muted and solid feeling. the shop didn't have the i20 fairway, but when I go back for the fitting it will be between the rbz, superfairway and the i20. superfairway leading the way now.

Adams did the paint job right with their silver. Unlike Cobra's AMP drivers/fairways/hybrids which have a glossy silver finish (note, RickytickyFowler's fairway shot aired on last weeks broadcast), Adams Fast 12 and superhybrid/fairway have a matte silver finish that doesn't glare.
