Best golf headphones???

Olesie

Recommended Posts

I love to listen to music when I practice, but I have yet to find a set of headphones that can stay in place during full swings. I have found that most headphones work fine for putting and short game practice in terms of staying in place. However, when I try to use them for full swing practice they usually end up coming out of my ears.

I would love to find a pair that I could use on the course when I am playing rounds during the week nights by myself that would stay in place for the whole round of 9 holes.

Has anyone found a set that they can use for both short game and full swings???

Try an over ear design where the cord can be run behind the back of you head and clear of your body. Depending on how deep your wallet is, you may want to check out Shure SE 215, 315, 425 or the fabulous 535's. http://www.shure.co.uk/products/earphones/se535
I don't usually condone the use of earphones whilst playing golf, but on the practice range it can be acceptable. Just be wary of your surroundings, and be appreciative of the fact it may affect feel if you can't hear the ball strike.

Agreed. I took my 5 year old to the range last week. We usually go to the end of the line, but we had to settle for a spot in the middle of others practicing. He hit one a few yards and started out to get it. I rushed to get him and yelled a "HOLD" to the guys around me. My boy was not in harms way, but it was just the natural reaction to tell the guy next to you not to hit. He never even flinched and hit his ball anyway. I was pretty pissed until I noticed he was rocking out with his earbuds in and couldn't have heard WW3 start. There are times where you need to hear what is going on around you...like my incident and also when the group hitting into you yells FORE. Earbuds are for working out...not playing golf... My .02c.

I never wear them at the driving range but where I practice the chipping green/practice trap is away from everything else so I can get my fill of sports talk radio. I have tried a bunch for jogging and the only ones that work for me are over the ear or behind the neck. Some that are designed with the extra peice to fit in the cleft of the ear work if they happen to fit just right. Look at some of the Sennheiser sport models over at Amazon.

Wow, the dude came to hit golf balls not watch your kid for you. There is no reason someone at a driving range should have to hear whats going on. If he had hit your kid it would have been 100% your fault.

I don't see how people say you lose the "feel" of a shot listening to music. The first time I tried it I was surprised by how much more I could feel the shot. Its like without the noise of the shot you can really focus on the feel when you hit it, definitely a different feeling.

I use in-the-ear earbuds or more of the sports variety which loop around the ear. The sports variety stay in the ear better, but I prefer the sound isolation that in-the-ear earbuds provide.

I like to use them during my range sessions and at a 3-hole practice course I have at my range. Why...it lets me drown out the rest of the world and just focus in on the task at hand. Plus, some good music soothes the soul.

Oddly enough, even though I don't hear the impact as much, I can still feel the pured golf shot (as well as my misses) in my hands.

As much as I don't ever want to see a child hurt in that type of situaiton, that was my first thought as well. Someone at the range is there to hit balls from a designated spot into a designated area. There's as little danger for that person wearing earbuds at the range as there is in the gym.

how much you want to spend and what sound quality you want. I'm a kinda audiophile and love sound quality so I'd recommend these ones, best bang for the buck and studio quality.

I don't want to be a jerk or anything, but being pissed at someone else for hitting balls while your child runs around in the driving range feels like you're putting the blame on the wrong person here. This also may be carryover from me being annoyed with the guy who brought his 3 daughters along to scream bloody murder at the Presidio range yesterday.

I would laugh expect that I see people at the gym wearing these huge ear phones. I always wonder how much effort they go through to keep them on their heads as they run!

How good do the jaybirds sound? I would recommend open air design at the range...I have a $10 pair of sony that are full range and work fine...get 'em at wally. You can still hear your surroundings...including ball strike.

I have to disagree 100%. I love the sound that the jaybirds produce, but they are not made for golf. First, the bluetooth only works well indoors. If you are outside your bluetooth device has to be within a couple of feet of the right earphone or your music goes in and out. I would lose the connection if I put the phone in my pocket. I had to wear my iPhone on my belt on my right side only or I had trouble with the connection. The other problem I had was the cord kept catching on my collar and pulling one of my earbuds out. Indoors, these are some of the best earphones I have ever heard though.

I've always used mine outdoors without any problem. You might wanna return them for warranty exchange; I don't think they will charge you for that. The honeycomb helps keep it in the ear but you also have to use the correct tips ( I use super tips from monster cable golds) & they fit perfectly.

I have a pair of bose and I find them great for sounds quality (not an audiophile by any means), they always seem to fall out though.

Any suggestions on the kind that are sort of like a bud but it has a thing around your ear to keep them on?

Any earphones that can be fitted with Comply foam tips. They won't budge.

I use two sets, Shure SE535, and Phonak Audeo PFE232. Both are marvellous.
