How far do people hit their Driver

I have read many reports which suggest that we all overestimate how far we hit our driver, for the last few months I have been monitoring this and was disapointed to find that I only carry the ball 230 yards ( in good, dry weather). A session on a launch montor proved interesting, ball speed and ss were what I expected, but ball spin rate was far too high, resulting in the ball launching very high and 'stalling out', so reducing carry distance and having very little roll! So the search for a new shaft begins, my clubmaker is recommending a Mamiya Axiv 6070 SST Pured - has anyone any experience of this shaft?

Thanks

there are many, many reviews and opinions and fitting guides for the axiv shafts over at tourspecgolf.com. Just PM tourspecgolfer or tourspecgirl or run a few searches to find out info on those shafts. mamiya has so many options in the axiv shaft it is a little overwhelming but the owners of that site were really trying to help people pick the right one. good luck.

As a Longdriver for the past 4 years, I have learned how to get more CHS at impact and when I want it. I can still hit the driver 290-310 if I want to, but for my game, I need longer. My avg is 330-340 with a playing driver. That is carry at 300 and rolling a ton. It really is an easy swing for me.

No matter how far one hits a driver, it will still not be far enough...Such is the nature of most of us playing the game...Never satisfied...always seeking more distance off the tee...

I can guarantee you that most people will lie about there driving distance. Intentional or not I don't know. I thought I was hitting it out there 260 carry every time, come to find out, the yardage was wrong on the course and my carry was more around 245. Mine is about 245 yards carry and like 10-15 yards roll (I am 14). Carrying it 290+ is just killing the ball. TIGER WOODS said that his average carry was 290-300, now I doubt that anyone can do that, especially a junior, unless your a long driver-some people are.

I would agree on that statement. Many people think they hit it further than they really do. Not many juniors if any are carrying it further than 290. The drives might end up at that distance or further but the carry isn't that long. Many people would be suprised by the real distance they really hit it

My carry gets anywhere between 275-300...

I usually am closer to 300 because I have a high ballflight and my ball carries longer but doesn't roll much if at all...

I would like to have my ideal carry to be about 280-290 with 15-20 yards of roll which I am working on right now and will be working on this winter.

I know i can't say for certain but there must be some people living in la la land when it comes to how far they it. It just seems everyody is hitting 300 yards. Hard to imagine this but i may be wrong. The likes of Tiger Woods who is in top physical condition and an awesome swing averages 300. In Ireland a good hit is about 250. You would be considered long in a lot of cases
