It's just me or all the Cantlay votes seems to have not much motivation but just given with the heart to a fellow countryman hoping he can become the next great American after the delusions of Fowler and Uihlein?!? (imho)

13 votes for Cantlay and only 1 of them posted giving a reason why (and that reason was purely basing his opinion on 1 event)

Once Matteo gets a little bigger and figures out how to hit it further it won't even be close.

    For sure

Like most tournament professionals, he hits it plenty far enough. I don't care what the numbers say, he's as long as the current world # 1 already, who is living proof that accuracy, coupled with an amazing short game, is all it takes to genuinely contend, week in, week out

Manassero is just sick out of bunkers, similar to Donald.

LOL gotta love the Manassero and Donald fan boys. Let us know when they win a tournament someone cares about.

Also, I saw that interesting story in the WSJ about how the world rankings are biased in favor of Euros based on the fact that the talent level in each tournment is not deserving of the rating given to the Euro tourneys.

Will do. It could be as soon as a couple of weeks away for LD

In the meantime, their multiple wins in high-ranking OWGR events are stratospherically better than the one top 10 Mr Cantlay has to his name and that was in the oh-so- highly rated Canadian Open image/cheesy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':cheesy:' />

Donald is actually the bigger joke here. Has to be the most undeserving #1 of all-time in any sport. Right up there with Kaymer who also did not earn it.

    Well, that's that settled so.

Cauley has game and has already seems unintimidated by the surroundings of the PGA Tour. I voted Mannaserro because he has a great swing and has won some stuff. Cantlay may do the same thing who knows.

Actually, the biggest joke here is the first post you made:

    Cantlay > Cauley > Uihlein > Speith > Mannassero

If you played match play on a real course (US Open difficulty) (not those soft courses Manassero plays on) that would be the results...

PuttLeftHitRight is an epic troll it must be said.

"Let us know when they win a tournament someone cares about."

The Amateur Championship. Aged 16. Youngest winner ever in its 126 year history.

What did Cantlay ever win that someone cares about? Nothing. If Cantlay had finished 13th in a major at 16 years old and had won 2 pro events before turning 18 you would be having an ****.

    Goodbye.

I was talking professional obviously. Winning the British Am is impressive, but as many pointed out not all of those people are on their way to glory. Could have been a weak year. Plus the only recognizable winners of that event are Sergio and Jose Maria Olazabal.

Please point out a successful British Am champion of recent memory. I would say 1 (Jose).

Do you think that has any relevance to how good Manassero will be at the end of his career?

Bobby Jones. Question answered. I'm not replying to anymore of your trolling.

So 76% vs 24%, nice to see that I'm in the majority on here. But then again I only picked Manassero because I'm an American hater, as I was told. Despite my mother being American and spending a few weeks every Summer over there during my childhood. I guess I hate my own family!!!!!

"You are not American? Whatever you achieve I just don't care!"

This is what I think when I read some weird comments, but that's understandable after all... Pretty childish imho... drinks.gif

I'm not a Euro hater and I am a actually a huge Rory fan. Why? Because he gets the job done! The rest of the Euros though are given high ranks and have done NOTHING. I still cannot believe the PGA gave their trophy away to that Kaymer. Dude can barely make the cut these days.

Also - Bobby Jones? You are making my point for me!

I don't think anyone understands what your point is, other than to be a troll.

If Jose and Bobby are the only 2 successful Brit Am winners, then why do people keep bringing up his win there?

Another Cantlay vote. Never seen either hit a ball in person, but from those that have, I've heard Manassero is surprisingly short...like 10 yards behind Donald. He's very gifted, but he'll never be a dominant force hitting it 270 yards. Cantlay has played very few events, but he seems to have all the tools...that 60 was pretty impressive, too.

For the record I have watched Cantlay play in person.

For the record, Manassero is not my favorite player, even though he's in my user pic.

I like to be rational when making an argument, which is something you obviously struggle with. You have moved from the fact that Cantlay is better than Manassero, which is perfectly reasonable, to the fact that Kaymer and Donald don't deserve their trophies and World Rankings, to hating on the Euro tour and the world rankings and finally to point out that the British Amateur has few notable winners. What's the point of any of this?

Obviously, one top 10 on the PGA Tour and one course record are much more promising than 2 European Tour wins and multiple records as both an amateur and a professional...

How is this even up for debate? Manassero has accomplished more in an amazingly short amount of time. He contends on a regular basis week in week out and has one of the best swings in the game. Once he gains some distance, he'll be even better.

For the record me and Matteo are from the same golf club and I know him since he was 3 and trust me, if he goes back putting like when he was an amateur threads like this one would not even exists... As we saw, you can become #1 and win both money titles not being a long hitter

Don't think I ever said Cantlay was better. I think he has accomplished more on the tour with higher competition and, to answer the OP question, is definitely the bigger prospect.
