Has anyone ever gone into water/overflow to find goflballs? My course is kinda flooded in some places with about 2 feet (max) overflow in some places with tons of balls in them. Picked up 15 today, 2 pro V1's, many nike's, some calloways, and a sponge bob ball.... PLEASE tell me im not the only one who does this....busted2.gif

In high school and college i would go swimming in some of the ponds af my home course, especially after our big tournament we would host. Always loved finding the Titleist and Maxfli HT balatas. They would be new enough I would have balatas to play with and the.others i woukd sell 100 of them for $20. Last time I went in a pond I had a mocassin swim within arms length from me. I have since decided I don't need balls that badly. Only time I was ever bitten by anything I came out with a snapping turtle on my big toe.

As a kid in Florida (mid 1970's) we would go to the ponds at night and feel around the muck with our toes to get some golf balls in about 5 feet of scummy swamp water. For some reason we never put much thought into the fact there were gators and moccasins in those ponds in the daytime. We must not have ever woke them up.

Only during "practice rounds" I don't usually do this if I'm playing in a foursome, but if I'm playing alone or with my old man on a weeknight we will pick everything we see. We mostly use them as balls to hit at the range we have setup at my parents house, but it's always great to find a few balls you can game along the way. The way these things are priced these day, heck why not save a few bones, We probably find 4-5 dozen high end balls throughout the year that are still playable, that really adds up, and I'm not ashamed to say it. Don't really have to worry about the snake here in PA, but the ticks this year are horrible!

You actually stood in 2 feet of water and only came out with 15 balls? That's amateur. If my feet are being submerged, I'm coming out with way more than that!

As a kid/teen-ager/ and maybe occasionally now(early 20s) I sneak out to the pond and seem to forget the same things...

I tend to lose premium balls and find TOP FLIGHTS and PINNICLES, with the occaisional MOLITOR just for laughs. The golf god smile and wave and the squirels and crows laugh at me.
If I can reach with my 5 iron and it's close to mine, I'll make an attemp, but I won't wade in until July when the waters warm.

One of the local courses has a river that runs through it and several holes require you to hit over it. When the weather gets hot and dry the water level gets low and we take canoes down the river. The last time we did this we had to stop because the canoe was sinking. My buddies are hacks and could care less what they play so I get all the premium balls and they get the rest. Last time we found around 2000 balls(rough guess). Plus it's real fun when someone hits a ball in the water and wants us to through it back. Yea, thats never going to happen.

I can guess why that's never going to happen ? ...... because it is impossible to through a golf ball - you could take the easy route and just THROW it back

Like an earlier post. If I am looking for my ball and I come across others I will pick them up. Usually tossing them to my playing partners. Im not going in the water and not using a retriever. If i can grab my ball from the water with a club and my feet solidly on shore, I will go for it. My feeling is a ball that goes in the water or comes from the water obviously likes it there and is going to try and go back there at the expense of my score :)

Enjoy the jewels I leave for all you ball hunters...I guess I will just call it one of the many ways I ban give back to my fellow man!!!!

Same here, only was working on the course. A bud and me pulled hundreds out. Looked at each other afterward and we were covered in slime.
