Can't decide what ball to buy

need advice
Hey I used to play 2010 Pentas for a couple years, but those are pretty much gone now. I don't know what ball to buy right now. I'm looking for a ball that will do good with driver and irons off the tee, and i also wouldn't mind the ball stopping when it comes to chipping. Not sure if i can get what i want.

Any advice?

I'm not quite sure what the difference is between the TP5 and the TP3 besides the layers and the price? unless i just answered my own question

Boom. Magic.

I think the consensus the TP3 is a bit more high cap friendly with less spin than the 5. Don't quote me.

from TM's marketing perspective, the TP3 has more spin than the TP5. from my real world experience, i totally agree. the TP3 has more spin than any ball i have played in that price range. i found some issues into head winds - not so with the TP5 or Cally balls.

while i am finding myself driving better with the mid-high capper balls (Chrome, 330RX, TP3, etc), i don't have the problem common with amateurs lacking spin. so, i am really stuck in between of not compressing the tour pro balls enough (330, TP5, Hex Black, etc) with the bigger sticks, but getting too much spin with all clubs in the $25-$35 range.

in the Hacker's Paradise podcast (http://www.thehacker...se.com/?p=15739 - also available at iTunes, also GolfWRX topic: http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/604295-penta-tp3/) Dean Snell of TM spoke of all their new balls - TP5, TP3 and Rocketballz and where they shine. he also spoke of real world testing of Sergio Garcia (pro's), amateurs and such. it's a great listen.

to the OP's original request, i'd second the recommendation of the natural progression into the TP5 ball. it holds all of the performance of the last Penta version but finally fixed that issue with ballooning off the drivers and doesn't feel as much like a pillow. it's a great ball - one of my current favorites. however, the TP3 ball *feels exactly like the previous Penta ball. would be a good idea to try that as well.

The TP5 spins more with the half wedge than the TP3. TP5 spins less (or similar) to TP3 on all full shots from Driver to PW.

The TP5 is therefore designed for Pros who already generate good spin rates and are looking for less spin with full swings but more spin control close to the green.

The TP3 is designed to mimic the Pro V1 at $12 less per dozen.

Gift ideas?  Products I have tested.

What is a estimate on your SS? I think that will play a big role in the ball... I have always been a Pro-VX guy but recently have been gaming other balls.. the Bridgestone B330S is a fantastic ball... I would say give the 330RX or RXS a shot if you dont want the premium tour ball.. I have also heard great things about the e6 or whatever.

Wilson Staff FG Tour is a good ball, or Srixon Z star. I hear good thing about the new Cally Hex Chrome as well.
