Titleist yellow is hideous (and I like yellow balls)

Last year I bought a box of Bridgestone e6 and didn't realize they were yellow until I got home. Rather than take them back, I played them... and loved them. Tracking ball flight was easier, found a few in deep rough/hazards I might have missed otherwise, and most of all I got really used to playing with partners and instantly knowing which ball was mine as we approached a green.

So, when Titleist came out with a yellow ball, I was psyched, and bought a box of NXT yellow. Holy crap! What a FUGLY ball!!!

Now, I suppose if you don't like or play yellow balls, they are all ugly to you... But to me there is a big difference between the deep yellow and glossy look of the e6 and the paler matte finish of the Titleist balls. The Titleist literally look like crappy miniature golf balls. The Bridgestone yellow and even the Srixon yellow I've tried look nice to me. The Titleist look like they had a cheap amateur paint job. I hate them.

Is it just me or do any other yellow-ball gamers dislike the Titleist take on the "optic" coloring? If you hate yellow balls and think they all look silly, I respect your opinion, but please keep those comments to yourself. I'm asking people who play or might play a yellow if they agree that the NXT yellows look inferior to other brand's yellow offerings.

I agree. My dad just bought a doz DT solo's and they look just like the yellow top flites I use off the tee in scrambles. His normal ball is a Srixon Tri-Speed Yellow and now that they have clearanced those out he is looking for another ball. I DO NOT want to see a yellow Pro V as I already hate them and this yellow color would be enough for me never to buy one again!

I haven't seen them in daylight or on the course, but in the box in store, they look identical to the z star yellow, which is my favorite yellow ( those and tri speed tour yellows). I too find my self a yelllow snob. The q star is awful and I won't play it in yellow.

Next time, take them out and compare them side-by-side. It is a very noticeable difference.

Same here. At the course where I work I have had a few people come in asking about them, they seem to love them.

We need some pics of the Titleist, Srixon and Bridgestone side by side. I don't have the Titleist or else I would do it.

So i was thinking.... Why play a yellow ball? all it does is give you 1 more excuse to hit a bad shot.... "No worries guys, i am playing a yellow ball I will be able to find it in the trees..."

I am going to be releasing a 'Players' golfball... it will be green. Keep it in play, or lose it!

I didn't think I would like the yellow balls. I initially bought them by accident. I think being able to find them in the rough or the trees is only one added advantage. The two biggest things I like about the ball are 1) tracking - these are just much easier to see your ball flight/landing, and 2) identification. This is probably the thing that has kept me playing a yellow ball more than anything else. I really like when my foursome approaches the tee shots or walks up to the green, and I know instantly which of the four balls is mine from 30 yards away. I didn't really notice how much I liked this until I recently went back to a white ball for a few rounds and missed this instant ID. Not having to bend over and check the markings was nice - and proved addictive. (of course if anyone else games one in my 4some, that advantage is eliminated). These are little things, no doubt, but I liked them enough to keep playing a yellow ball.

There are a few downsides to playing a yellow ball. One is taking crap from people. But I don't care. I can give back as well as I can take it when it comes to jokes. Another thing is I have had a few people come up to me and say "hey, I found a few of your balls yesterday" because they assume I was the only person playing a yellow ball therefore the balls they found must be mine. They weren't, but if people want to assume I am a worse golfer than I actually am, that is their problem, not mine.

I will try and take some photos of the yellow Titleist next to the yellow Bridgestone/Srixons to show what made me start this thread.

The Maxfli Noodle had a line called " Ice", which got it's name from the clear coat cover. Each dozen contained a sleeve of a different color - pink, yellow (very pale), purple (too dark, hard to see) , and ... yes ... Green! For some strange reason it's not still around. You gotta wonder who looked at that and said, " What a great idea!"
But, if you want a ball that stiands out, you want bright pink! Not a natural color - it really caught your eye.
