all of you seem to like this one but i was disappointed with this and the 540xd. I could not hit this thing straight. I had tried different shafts and i still faded this thing a good 25yards and im a drawer of the ball. I switched to a Cleveland 460 comp which I thought I loved, and then I discoverd the Titleist 905T

Hey the 580XD is the best driver for me, hit several all with different shafts and can't mishit this club so no surprise, it is in my bag. Even ordered a new one because mine was a demo and is all scratched up. I did have to reshaft it and replace a penley stealth shaft with an SK Fiber shaft and it rocks. Great deal on this club now and it already has the weight moved back by its shape and clubs can't get much bigger. Buy this club.

I got this thing when it was first released, and I have been using it ever since. I really like the look at address, it gives me a nice boost of confidence. My swing speed hovers around 110 and once I kick the rust off my swing I get some beautiful drives off this one. My only complaint is the shaft. Like someone said in an earlier post, I find that when I start to move past a 90% swing, I get a high amount of twist in the shaft and my balls leak off to the right considerably. I thought it was just my swing but after looking at it on video and on the launch monitor, my local pro told me that it was the shaft. (First time it's ever been the equipments fault)

I'm looking into a new shaft for it, but I can say in truth that until someone steps onto the tee and outdrives me with one of the "new" technology drivers, I wont be taking the 580 out of my bag. :cheesy:

Pick up one cheap on ebay and it looks brand spankin new. Ive progressed from the 510 to the 540 to the 580xd. This is obviosly my favorite. Long and straight, if its not, its my fault not the clubs. Looking to put a proto bimatrix in it, excited about this shaft upgrade. Bottom line, like someone else said, best "bang" for your buck.

picked one up on Friday and I'll return this to the shop on Monday - definately not a driver for someone who swings agressively through the impact zone - most of my drives on the range headed to the right, the only way to bring it back to center was to slow down which equalled major loss of distance - this driver is clearly not for me, it came with the stock stiff shaft.

I recently broke the head off my driver. Decided it was time for an upgrade. The R580XD amazed me from the first time out. I have added 30-40 yards to my drives. I was apprehensive about a driver with such a huge head but the R580XD provides a solid feel. I picked it up for $150 which I thought was reasonable considering how much you can pay for a driver.

My only problem with this driver was that I had to go out and buy longer tees. :D

Just got one of these tonight from Golf Galaxy. Found it in the used rack for $70 with the stock regular shaft in it. My swing speed is around 90mph and I was hitting it better than the RAM FX with a stiff shaft that it's replacing. I'll be playing a round with the 580xd tomorrow morning. so hopefully it will go well.

dead feel off heel - a very good miss.

toed hits will wobble - wants to hook.

teed low - very straight

middle of face - nice draw

teed high - bomb

better than any pre-2005 taylor made head I've tried , better than r7 and r5.

8.5, NV 65X, 43.5"/ tipped 1", 115-120ss.

Only problem: appears closed a couple of degrees - grip it off the ground.

I've been using the 580XD since the fall of last year and I love it. Got it for $50 at Golf Galaxy with the sandard R flex shaft and I've been cracking it past all the other rich kids on my golf team with their brand new $500 "super" drivers. Great club, may just reshaft it in a year or so once I start to outgrow the club too much instead of buying a new driver. Fantastic technology, even at roughly 5 years old (which seems to be very old now a days).

Bought one for 60 bucks last week, first driver I've owned in 12 years (played pool instead of golf). Played in a scramble and thought it hit pretty damn solid. Not a ton of feedback, but moves it out there if you hit it good.

Probably just my swing, but I hit it pretty low with a grafolloy blue stiff shaft, 9.5 degrees. Ball didn't curve a lot, just went straight wherever it started at.

Hit a number of 260-280 yarders dead in the middle, but I don't think I could work this club that well if I really had to. From what I can tell, the 425 tp would be a better model for better players who play courses that require working the ball both ways.
