Your Golf Season?

I have lived in Salt Lake for the past 8 years. Needless to say, there are full seasons here, but we do get to play golf most of the year. I lived in San Antonio before moving here and could play just about any day.

It's kind of nice to be forced away from golf for a while. A break is always nice and makes you appreciate golf more when it's time to play again. Of course, the bad thing is that we basically have to learn to play again each season hehe.

The handicap is low to start out, then it goes up, then it goes down halfway to late in the season.

For me, I don't mind the seasons because we can play most of the year and the quality and value is so high compared to other places I have lived. I also have fun in the winter snowboarding and fly fishing, so it's not like I just wait to play golf again hehe.

The fall should be beautiful and comfortable, but the beginning of the end of the season.

I'm just curious how it is for other players here. I'm sure there are lots of people here that can play all year and there are probably people here that can only play about half as much of the year as we can in Salt Lake.

I live in Michigan, our season could be over in a month or could play right through to next year. The last two seasons our weather turned in october and stayed cold, so golf was not much fun. But i have played in every month of the year other years.

You just never know with our weather , and of course we should get an indian summer somewhere in the middle so we can go for a day or two with warm weather, then the snow and cold, and we take off our golf shoes and change into snowmobile boots.

Agreed, I am living in Kalamazoo (Yes, there's a Kalamazoo) in MI, and that generally sounds right. 4 years ago, I played 12 months, last year, I played the end of March to the middle of October.

ok lets make it three in a row for Michigan, I live in Alpena Michigan and our season usually ends the first of November and starts up again middle to late April.

I'm with John, time to ride the snowmobiles.

Well, not as far north as JHR and the Wolverine boys......I grew up in Southern Ohio and now live in MD. Season ends usually early November and starts back up in March-April. If you dont mind the cold, you can play almost till Christmas as we dont usually get any snow till late Dec. early Jan.

I live in Central Texas (Austin) and like ForeonRoad said that is the great thing about living here is you can play nearly everyday. Not counting rain, there are maybe 10-12 days when it is too cold by our standards to play. I actually look forward to playing in the colder months when I have to wear a sweater or a light pull over since I always seem to strike the ball better and score better. A sweater or a jacket seems to add just enough bulk to shorten my backswing a little and improve my control.
