Admit It, Who Watched Solheim Cup

I know there is an LPGA forum, but the three of you who participate in there need more visibility, so let's leave this topic in the General Forum and perhaps we'll get twice as many to participate. That's right, six people.

Not counting majors, I watched just as much Solheim Cup as any other golf tournament on TV. It wasn't planned, it just happenned to be on when there was nothing else to watch (USA won before the Cowboys beat the Chargers in the only NFL game that mattered besides the Saints). I watched a little Friday, most of Saturday morning, a little Saturday afternoon, and Sunday morning.

The coverage was well done and I found myself watching it a lot because it was entertaining. There was the right amount of quality shots and real doozys that left your head shaking. It was not just a putting fest that you usually see on golf coverage on CBS. And it was quite impressive to watch Davies get Creamed. With that kind of pressure, Annika rarely puts together a front 9 like Paula did yesterday.

Well done Team USA, the overpaid fakes we put on the Ryder Cup have a lot to learn. I dare say, if Nancy Lopez was Ryder Cup captain, Team Europe would get demolished. But for some strange reason, Lehman reminds me of Lopez (or vice-versa, I am not sure), so we probably will win the cup back.

all and all I probably watched about 4 hours of it a day... it was pretty good golf for the most part. These girls were sticking it pretty close. I have trouble believing the course play 6500 yards... seemed more like 6200 or less

I did not see much during the first showing, but watched every minute of the re-air on TGC and loved it. Except for Christina Kim. She played great, but really got on my nerves.

I had been puking my guts out all night on Friday nite probably due to food poisoning so I didn't feel like going anywhere so I had nothing to do but to watch Solheim telecast all day on Saturday. I enjoyed watching it because there was lot of good shots and it was very exciting down the stretch in many matches. I Tivo'ed Sunday matches so I watched nearly the entire show. Creamer played very impressively and Daiz putted great when she needed to.

Annika didn't play up to her usual high standard but she was good enough to win her match handily. I was impressed with high quality of the play from those players.

I had a golf tournament on Saturday / Sunday / Monday, so I didn't get a chance to watch as much of it as I would have liked, but it was on before we went off on Sunday, and it looked like the Americans were playing very well, and they were excited to be there, as opposed to some of the American men's teams of the past.

Bledsoe makes me nervous, but it was great to see that team do things they have not done in years. That was an awesome game.

Watched it wire-to-wire. Must thank Walgreen's for having 8-hr VCR tapes available. TGC had fantastic coverage and didn't cut away when the play ran way long on Friday -- like by more than 1 hr. Lopez is credited with convincing the US team that they could play 4ball. The come back on Saturday was thrilling. Can't imagine how nasty those greens must of been and got worse, given the difficulties that everyone had putting. The lip outs and sniffing the hole reminded me of my putting woes. Jones and Mallon managed to drain some important long ones however. What was with Pettersen's swing? Obviously, Ward hadn't quite gotten her putting up to the standard that Lopez had suggested. Her ball striking is awesome, but (as every commentator has said) if she could putt, she would be a world beater. Creamer certainly demolished Davies by getting her down early and hard and Laura seemingly gave up or more accurately, couldn't get into her game. Perhaps this tournament will put to rest some the complaints about American women's golf.

I was watching the replay today on TGC and is it just me....or does anyone else thing that if the men played with as much enthusiasm along with the "team effort and no ego" they would do so much better in the Ryder Cup?
