First Episode - Not Impressed
So I actually sat down and watched the first episode on it's debut night. In the past seasons i've watched most episodes on replay or satrted watching midway through the season. For the new one I was pretty excited, thought we were going to get some good golf.
Well, I was wrong. The US team is terrible. Granted, they have "the best putter in the world" and of course the almighty Bart, but they really aren't any good.
And before the euros here start getting all excited, i have to tell you, i wasn't impressed by them either. there are a couple of guys that can play, but being a "europro" player isn't exactly anything to get all excited about.
anyway, i hope the competition gets better over the season. from the looks of it, these might be the worst players yet.

I know David Carnell (sp), I've had the opportunity to play with him and watch him hit balls. The man can play the game, period. I asked if he could devulge any info on the outcome, of course he could not. Asked him how difficult it was, he said the biggest problem wasn't the pressure but the wait. He said you would get warmed up and then sit for hours waiting to hit one shot. Or in the case of episode one, play an alternate shot on a course you haven't played with a partner you have just met, add the weather and you have a long day. I'll watch for sure, but not with baited breath.

Agreed...I think the producers have overcooked it this time. Go back to the original format. Why do TV execs think they always have to come up with something new to keep folks watching? I won't be watching...I'd rather watch an informercial...snooze... :clapping:

After watching it I was scratching my head, wondering how they come up with these guys? Bart ,how does he get on the show again? The two glove guy? The best putter in the world? Is this the best of all the applicants or is it a "reality show" that picks people by quirky personality...I have to think that there are way more talented golfers out there who aren't looking for a "BIG BREAK" !!!! Instead they are out there playing and hustling for every break they get...IMO But I will watch every episode :clapping:

That "Two Glove Guy" is probably the best player on the American team. He is a proven winner at a high level and could mop the floor with that Bart guy and probably the rest of the cast.

I was not very impressed with their talent...but then again I have never been on TV trying to execute shots that define my existence...and that is exactly what it is for them, which speaks to the caliber of player you get on a show like BB. Do you know many "good" golfers who can put their lives on hold for however many weeks to go play in a contest to gain a spot to TRY and win some money and get a career going?

Does anyone think anyone who ever gets a spot at a shot due to the Big Break will ever amount to a solid professional golfer who is capable of making a living on a major tour?

one neat little tid bit about the golf channels picking procedure.  I know for a fact that is in no way based on the best golfers that sign up.  Myself and a few others that I know who signed up for the first big break were politely told that we were beyond what they wanted for the show.  they were looking for guys that would add to a reality show,  not guys that can shoot 65 every time they play.  For the most recent episodes they seem to be picking guys that are off key,  that people will look for.

I know Tommy 2 gloves personally and I know he was picked for the show not for his game but for his country boy attitude and his weird golf game.  When you compare his game to the others,  its kinda scary to see how bad these guys can be beat.

If they would take some of the guys that bust their a** every year trying to qualify for the tours,  they will have a much better show.  better players and a real competition.

Keep an eye on 2 gloves,  rumor has it that he has a new car at home  :clapping:

"Two Gloves" is well respected in the Carolinas. He is a birdie machine and I know few guys that will play money games with him. I am a +3 and I don't mess with him.

This may not be the best fomat for him but if you put paychecks on the line, he would clean up the rest of that cast...from both sides of the pond.

WOW! It's amazing you guys could assess these guys' game in just a 1 hour episode, half of which showed them traveling. What was it we saw, 6 holes?

A couple of those guys put good moves on the ball, at least 3 of the Euros did. Also remember that it was many of the guys first shot at Car'nasty, it was raining, and for many I bet it was the most pressure (cameras and all) they've really had on them.

I'll continue watching...I'm not that good a player I guess.

"great1putt" - let's not kid ourselves here, we all know that you may be great, but you're not the "best"

i don't mind the format. it changes things up a bit, maybe some of the team members will fight or something.

Geesh...where did I say I was great??? I only stated the show was a snoozer. What were you reading?

P.S. The user name is merely a compliment to my opponent, i.e., "Dude, Great one putt!". Not my personal tag ya know, although I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night and I just saved alot on my car insurance thru Geico.

i was joking. "great1 putt" vs. the "best putter in thw world." it was a joke about your name. you may make the great one putt, but the guy on the show is the best.

A hustler in the old sense of the word is what I'm detecting? Always admire a man who can clean you out and leave you with the sense that you can beat him! I tried to watch but I can't sit still long enough, none of these shows are compelling enough for me.

Ratings are what its all about, they don't put these on to lose $$.

Not really a hustler. Tommy is a legit Tour pro with the resume to back it up. He just gets underestimated sometimes because of his swing and the gloves.
