Thanks to all golfers that turn things in!

I'm usually the one that picks up my buddies headcovers, or their wedges on the green when they forget... but today, i left my fairly expensive phone on a bench while waiting to tee off.. it was on the 3rd hole and i didnt realize until i finished the front 9.. i was playing a skins game so i couldnt really just take the cart and go back 4 or 5 or however many groups were behind us to see if they picked up my phone... so i decided to wait until we finished all 18.. of course my mind was mostly on finding my phone so i wasnt really focused into my golf game.. but by the end of 18, the phone was already in the golf shop waiting for me. So that's why i would like to say thank you to everyone that would go out of their way to pick something up and turn it into the golf shop. I knew there was a small chance of some teenagers or stragglers that would keep it, but i just hoped for the best. Thanks to all of you!

It's not the golfers you have to worry about, it's when you leave something in a cart and the cart boy finds it. I had an iPhone left once. Cart guy kept it and never turned it in. I went back a week later and saw him using it (I have a very distinct case on it that he didn't bother to change). Felt bad that he lost his job, but all he had to do was turn it in and he would have been fine. Dishonesty comes back at ya sooner or later...

Someone started a poll a while back, and if my memory serves me correct? More than half would or did not see anything wrong or out of the normal, by keeping what they find or had found on the course...

Kind of disappointing to say the least, if you asked me....

I would not have felt bad at all. In fact, i would have danced a jig while he was getting canned. Only a serious scumbag would do that.

I returned a SG5 a few weeks ago. Not even a thank you from the assistant pro and the way he eyeballed it, I'm pretty sure it went home with him.

I've had someone bring me a wedge I forgot on the previous hole. I agree, golfers are usually honorable/courteous people. At the same time you get the people who hit into you on every hole - and something I've seen a lot of is people who will steal your ball. One time it was so blatant - these 2 younger guys drove back with their cart, picked up my ball and left with it. Didn't hit into them or anything. What douches!

You've got to think if people will steal balls, finding a nice club would be like finding treasure.

I always turn lost items in. Though I have had some mixed luck with my gear.

Few weeks back we found a club off the green and I took it and turned it in to the pro shop. My thoughts were that if it were my club I'd be more than happy if someone turned it in. The strange thing is, that they have about 40 clubs that no one claims and you will see this at other courses also!!!! Strange!!!!!

People who live their lives by the core values of this Great Game will always turn it in.

For those of you whom have had things you left (on course or in a cart) just remember for those who took them that Karma is a B#$@H and will eventually have her way with those who are unscrupulous.

I consider anyone that does NOT turn in lost items to be a scumbag. Sorry, but the item is not yours. If you want one, buy one. Keeping something you find without at least trying to find the owner, to me, is theft.

If you turn something in and say "look if no one claims it in a few days, I want this back" then I am ok with that. The guy in the shop didn't find it, you did. If no one claims it, it's not shopkid's either, and they don't deserve it. If you were honest and tried to return it, but the owner never claimed it, well ok.

But picking up a club or other item that someone dropped or forgot THAT DAY and saying "oh well, it's mine now..." is dishonest and infantile. I see that as no different than taking it out of his bag.

What a bunch of a-wadds. I would never keep anything significant I found on the course. I have though kept a wire divot tool I picked up (the type they give away at some courses) a tee from time to time, of course a ball found in the woods etc.. But never anything more than that. At our club though we have a few people that have a distinct brand of ball and marking (their intials or what ever) if found we even turns these in for them.

I have had good luck with people turning my forgotton wedges into the pro shop. Although I did lose a almost new pair of Nike golf shoes when I took them off after a round and left them under a table on the patio of the highlands gold course in pocatello idaho. I called the next day and nobody turned them in. Somebody must be on pretty rough times to have to keep used golf shoes and wear them.

I agree! Amazing at the clubs that are not claimed. I turned in an Adams Puglielli 56* wedge with KBS Tour shaft a month ago. Nobody has claimed it yet! They even had a driver that had been left on the course. I can see a wedge at the green while putting, but a driver?

I was the last one to play the other Thursday and left my Mizuno MP T11 56* at a green. Grounds crew turned it in thank goodness! I proceeded to leave it on the 3rd hole the same day I claimed it. The group behind us picked it up and gave it to me. It does pay to be honest!

My buddy gave me a small bushnell Neo GPS that he never used in the spring and I left it in the cart a few weeks ago. Called and the cart boy turned it in.

I left my Vokey 60* wedge on the last hole yesterday, I realized an hour later and went back but nobody turned it in. :(
People that keep lost items are scumbags. From working at a course I have found we will usually have a barrel full of wedges within a few months but Vokeys NEVER get turned in.

Actually, if what you say is true about the poll, I'd say it's a pretty pathetic indicator of people nowadays.

I found a 7 iron in the rough on a 12th hole, we were teeing off on the 13th when we saw a cart speeding towards us, I started walking towards them even though they were 75-100 yards out. The guys were relieved and the one who lost it said he would've offered me a beer if I was legal age haha.

Like kg92lefty said, Vokey and Cleveland wedges have a real low return rate. I posted a couple days ago about getting laughed at when I asked pro shop personnel if my Cleveland 60 had been turned in.

I've probably turned in about 10 clubs, not including the full staff bag of Calloway gear a drunk guy from Ireland left at a course I worked at (locked them up so co-worker wouldn't take them home after eyeing them)
