LOL! You guys aren't helping.

I'm not asking for a World Series just yet, how about just NOT COMPLETELY SUCKING?? They bunt any time they get people on because our freaking newbie manager is bunt happy (ex. 1st and 2nd nobody out with the # 2 hitter up tonight who hasn't had a sac bunt all year). Lost 13 of last 18.

Starting to feel better...just in time to get miffed about tomorrow's game, probably.

As a braves fan, the cardinals can enjoy the sinking feeling of sucking your way out of the playoffs. This is what you did to us last year. No, I dont feel bad for Eva longoria when Tony Parker cheated. Do it to someone else, it'll happen to you.

Of course, I can't really comment on how terrible the braves were.....

Yeah, yeah, yeah! I realize we've had it pretty good, but that doesn't mean I can't complain. Certainly not saying others don't have the right to moan also. Especially you Cubs fans. :D

I should've realized this site is a global one an I'm not gonna get much sympathy.

And I don't think Pujols leaving is much of a reason for this. Beltran has done quite well replacing the production, even after tanking the last month+. Bullpen has been terrible all year when it was supposed to be a strong point this season. Add a green manager who is learning/doesn't have a clue and that's where most the problems have been.

I'll join you pudge I'm a huge cardinals fan and said before the season 3 things had to happen for them to have a shot at repeating or making a decent run in October 1. Shelby miller ( when he got called up) had to be a stud and the pitching staff could not afford carp and Wainwright not being 100% 2. Berkman had to do the same as last year 3. Molina had to step up and be the rock of this team and leader on the field and in the clubhouse. Only one of those has happened I'm shocked they have done this well. The cards have the best farm system in baseball and make great moves, I am shocked Allen craig or David freese did not get traded at the deadline for pitching. I will be fine if they don't make the playoffs comeback next year healthy and give it one more run with the core of carp, beltran, Adam, and Molina. Its OK pudge at least we are not cubs fans! :)

Was a HUGE Cardinal fan not too long ago. Was extremely disappointed when they didn't resign Renteria. Went from watching 100+ games a year and going to 15+, to watching maybe 10 and going to one. Sure enough I lose interest and they win two World Series! I just can't get my love for baseball back though. I think about how I'd watch so many games back then and I don't know how I did it. 162 game seasons? Awful. My loss of interest also coincides with me taking up golf more and more seriously, so that's a win!

Even though I'm a Cards fan but I honestly didn't really expect them to make the playoffs even though they still have a good chance as of now. After all, they got extremely lucky last fall to get into playoffs and for that WS Game 6 win. So I'm not exactly crying in my cereal this year, especially after those injuries to key players.

They do have some good players in their farm system. Springfield (MO) Cardinals just won their league title, in Double A.

As a Reds fan, I don't feel remotely bad for the cards... In fact I love it....

Hopefully Johnny 'The Karate Kid' (ask Jason Larue what that means) Cueto will get his stuff together for playoffs and Latos will hold as a solid #2... Otherwise the reds may make a quick exit.

I agree. I got to watch the Double A Cardinals several times this year. Oscar Tavares is one to watch for sure. I think Audry Perez has the chance to take over for Yadi in a few years as well.

Being a Cardinals fan myself, I'm a little disappointed in their play this year, but they have been hit by the injury bug.

Classsssy Reds fan you are! Some crybaby kicks people in the back, head, wherever and it's a big joke. Poor baby was backed up against A NET and feels it was his only recourse. ONLY reason I dislike the Reds. I even like Brandon Phillips. One of the most ridiculous things I've ever seen. And then to top it off, he gets effectively a ONE game suspension. For that reason alone, I'm hoping for a sweep from whoever gets them in the Division Series.

I'm glad my post is entertaining to some. And yes, the Cards have a pretty good crop of guys coming up. Hope they can live up to their potential. Especially Miller and Tavares. Miller has looked pretty good so far, and I'm hoping Tavares gets a look now that their season is over.

And Chief Illiniwek, I think you probably win the award for biggest Renteria fan. Didn't he CHOOSE the Red Sox after they beat us in the '04 WS? Seems like I remember hearing some uproar about him going there.

I'm a phillies fan and loving every minute of the cardinals' suckfest. However far from thrilled about the phils losing 3 out of 4 to the Astros!!

:D

This is funny. A fan of a team who is worse than the Cards mentioning a "cardinals suckfest". Then in the very next sentence, mentions his team losing 3 of 4 to the ASTROS!! That's funny. They were certainly playing some good baseball until they ran into the Astros.

The Cards get a couple series with the Astros starting tomorrow, so I hope this doesn't come back to bite me.

Cardinals offered him less money. It wasn't Renteria's fault at all for leaving! After a huge revenue year the Cards went cheap and picked up Eckstein. He tried hard but the guy was a huge downgrade in talent. No arm or range in the field. Slower on the bases. No power at the plate. That was the move the Cardinals made that got me thinking "why am I spending hundreds of dollars a year at Busch?" They got lucky and Eckstein won a WS MVP which made the move not look as bad.

I am.

And just to clarify, I don't actively root against the Cards or anything. I only actively root against the Red Sox and whoever is currently posing problems for us (stupid Orioles). But I think its funny that you posted a topic looking for pity and you got none.

haha i think you took it a little too serious there my friend. I mean to his credit, he was being slammed against the wall/netting... still no real excuse to get all Ninja on LaRue and Carpenter though. I think Carpenter said it best when he just asked the media where Cueto learned how to fight.

Given it's been over 2 years since the brawl, its hard to not laugh at the ridiculousness of Cueto kicking for his life. I mean c'mon, watch the tape again, its shocking and somewhat funny. I was watching it thinking WTF IS HE DOING??? With that said, Jason Larue was one of favorite all-time ball players and to see his career end essentially because of that fight was disheartening. Larue was with the Reds for much of my time in HS and college. He became a legend among my friends and I, not for his bat or glove work behind the plate, but his attitude towards the game. Plus the dude rocked some awesome mustaches.

I will say I like how the brawl sparked a mini rivalry between the Reds and Cards. Fans are certainly excited when the Cards come to Cincy. For years, the only excitement Reds fans got was the angst as Grif was running the bases, hoping his hamstring wouldnt explode again.

No sympathy here.
As a Cubs fan..... I'm used to the losing, the Cardinals also sucking is the only bright spot in an otherwise dismal season. ;)
Damn Cardinal fans, you know.. you can't win a World Series every year. :)

Of course, the Red Sox have a bit more money to throw around, too. Since that's how it went down (really don't remember the specifics), I'm glad they got Eckstein. The Cards usually seem to come out looking good on deals with those type of players who over-perform with them.

Also funny that the year after Renteria wins the WS MVP for the Giants, he's offered $1Mil from them for his next contract.
