How does Jason Dufner mark his Titleist (and with what)

So I'm standing by the green talking with Dufner and his caddy when he pulls out a piece of PVC pipe and asks me if I want to takes some photos of the latest prototype piece of high tech equipment. Then he chuckles!

Says to tell all the GolfWRX.com members to quit wasting $19.95 on all those fancy pieces of plastic to draw a line on their golf ball. He says for about $ .19 you can get a piece of PVC pipe at Home Depot that works just as well.

That's a great idea! Is that 1 1/2" pipe? Isn't the golf ball 1.6" something?

Edit: ok is 1.680". 1 1/2" pipe has an ID of 1.610. I'll test it out tomorrow and see if it can go half way in. Anybody want to pay for shipping? If it works I'll send everyone that want one a piece. I have about 15' of 1 1/2" pipe at my shop.

Edit: that actually looks like a coupling.

I used to use one of those plastic tools, but after a few tries, I can get a really straight line by hand, cost = $.00

Alignment sticks started out as $2 driveway markers from Home Depot. Then someone decided to market them as "tour sticks" for $19.99. Could the same be done here?

I take a piece of pvc pipe a little longer than a sharpie marker and two end caps. This makes a unique container to carry about four different colored markers and you use the end caps to mark the line on the golf ball. Really works great.

That is awesome! I use the little plastic stencil thing that came with my bag but it's slightly bigger than it should be and the ball can move if you're not careful. I'll have to give this a try!

If I earned $5 million this year, I do believe I'd splurge on the fancy $20 version. The kids could still go to college.

[/quote]It's not about the money, some people (myself included) just like to be inventive. He's lucky that the pipe's ID was exactly perfect for the golfball and the thickness of the marker.

Actually I meant selling a piece of PVC pipe as a "tour ball marker".

That is just too cool. No wonder so many love this guy.

Actually just depends on how you Mark your ball. I put a plus symbol on mine so this wouldn't work well but for ur average line it works great plus I believe that is tour issue PVC

That looks like it works much better than the plastic thing that came on my bag. Ill have to try that
