How frustrating can a round be?

Can anybody top this???
So I played in my first Pro Am of the year this morning (I'm a pro), nothing major, just a nice way to ease into the season.
Fairly windy day, about a 2 clubber and 55-60 degrees out.
I hit every one of the first 16 greens in regulation and I'm not just talking about hitting the edges, only 2 putts were outside 18 feet. So 16 birdie putts, 14 definitely makeable. I make two birdies, both tap ins after overpowering par 5's, two 3 putts. Proceed to double the 17th after getting a mudball in the semi, finish +2 then find out that even ties for 2nd.
16 birdies putts in a row! and the greens were really good! Never lipped and shaved so many holes in my life.
:drinks:
It can only improve from here! lol

I was playing in my first amateur event while playing in college and I had a rough first 4 holes. I got stabbed in the finger with a pencil, lots of blood. 2nd tee I got stung in the back of my head by a hornet from a pine tree nearby. (Right in the hole of my cap.) 3rd tee box I I was teeing off and a guy on the 2nd hold flew his ball to about a foot from my tee'd up ball right in my backswing. Double.... 4th tee box some guy honked his horn in my backswing and I pulled it into a pond. 4 over on the first 4 holes. Shot 3 over on the day, -1 for the last 14 holes. (Redemption: Drove the 340 yard 5th hole, hit some kids wedge on the green and stopped about 10 feet for eagle. dropped it in.)

OK, None tourney, but here goes. I have struggled to shoot par, let alone break par, always choking coming down the stretch. So I shoot 72 at Ocattilo in Chandler, AZ (south of phoenix). 2 days later have to play a scramble event with President of our company. I'm striping it better than my 72 round. Drove every par 5 in 2. never missed a fairway or a green on a par 3. Lipped out a hole in one on the 3rd hole. So factor in the kick in birdie and 4 2 putts for birdie (made one eagle putt, but thats following the 3 free reads), and I'm 5 under for the day!! AND NONE OF IT COUNTS. Had to smile and take one for the team, but would have been nice to see what I could have shot on my own ball that day. Of course, next round, balooned to 81!! LOL

Want to hear something more frustrating? Here it goes... We're about to go on a trip to Scottsdale (2/15) and, of course, I decide to go try out some drivers at GG. So I start swinging like an idiot and guess what - I hurt one of my lower abdominal muscles!!!! 2 days to go and every sudden move hurts like crazy! I hope I didn't do any serious damage. We'll see if the codeine tablets help....

I ruined 2 of my best starts recently... one week I parred 1 through 4, then birdied 5, 6, and 7. I then hit 2 balls in the lake on 7 and shot a quadruple bogie... the next week, I parred 1 to 4 again, birdied 5 again, then eagled 6... This time, I managed to keep it under control until 17. I got to 17 at 1-over. I then triple bogied 17 and double bogied 18. Soon after, I scored a quadruple, triple, double and single bogie on the first 6 holes, but finished the last 12 holes 2-over. Today I shot a 78 with 21 putts on the front nine... argh.

I played a round last September that had me all over the emotional & psychological map. Started off with an eagle and four birdies to be -6 through 5, two bogies and two doubles had me even through 12, and a bogey on 16 gave me a +1 total. It was a round of miracle shots and really ugly swings, but I figured I could at least semi-choke and come in sub-par given the start. Oh well, next time... :drinks:

This is and isnt frustrating...a few summers ago, my first sub-par round im -2 through 12, then proceed to give back 3 on some of the easier holes on the course and am +1 going into 17. I had shot even par many a time, and always seemed to choke down the stretch when i was under par. 17-par three, absolutey stiff it to about 2 inches (thought i was gonna have my first hole in one, but no :drinks: So going into 18 even par, par 5. I crush a drive into the left rough, but have only a 6 iron to the green and hit it to aout 8 feet for eagle. Par is 71, so now i knew i was gonna break par, and had a chance to shoot in the 60s for the first time. Lipped out my eagle putt, full around the cup, and settle for a -1 70. I was thrilled, but went home in disappointment at the same time...if only that last putt dropped. Anyways, that was my first round under par and it was bittersweet.

In the first round of our team matches this year I went out in a lovely 46 (I was playing of off a 2.1). Topped my first four tee shots, bladed just about every iron and four putted the second hole from about 12 feet. My best friend had his bachelor party the night before and I was a bit under the weather. My playing partner is a drug rep for Merck and gave me some anti nausea pills on the fifth tee to hopefully right the ship. Ended up shooting 30 on the way in for a smooth 76 and tied for the second lowest round of the day.
