New irons

I need some junior advice

So, I've been playing rac OS2 for a while and they're pretty good. However, since I've gotten them, I've gotten a lot better. I don't keep an official handicap, but I would say that I went from like a 18 to now around 9,10, or 11. This year I am pretty much revamping my bag: new irons, new driver and three wood, and maybe a new wedge or two. My parents promised me a new set of irons for my birthday. However, my team has this high-school Callaway deal where we get a pretty good discount on anything Callaway. So obviously, I'm looking at Callaway irons. Sorry to ramble.

Here's the point:
What should I get? I sort of like the X-tours, but I am just mesmerized by the look of the X-forged. Is that just simply too much iron for me? My ball-striking is quite-good and is getting even better with practice and I figure my handicap will go down quite a bit this season. Can I assume that I will grow into the X-forged if I can hit them pretty well? Should I disregard the handicap and just go with what I am most comfortable with?

Once again, sorry to ramble, but this is a big decision for me and I want to make the right one. Thanks a lot guys.

Matt- get the x forged. They are great looking and if you're gonna devote a lot of time to practice they won't be too much

X Forged all the way! They are a huge improvement over the x tours and especiaaly what your currently playing. Keep up the good work ethic and you'll love em'. ;)

I wouldn't even consider the X-Tour if I were you. They haven't impressed me much. I would suggest either the X-20 Tour or the X-Forged. Depends on your budget, but you can't go wrong with either of those sets.

Yea id go with either the x-20 tour or the x-forged. With a 9 hcp. id probably go with the x-forged. they are great irons, pretty forgiving but hey, it will teach you to hit the middle. As for a driver, i really like the looks of the ft-5 and its supossed to be an updated ft-3. Id try that or the ft-3...cant go wrong. Never hit any callaway fw's so i cant help u there.

It's some sweet thing our coach got for us called Callaway VIP. I'm not sure how it works, but my coach seemed to say that its all pretty simple.

Id try the Mizuno irons because IMO they are the best out there. It might just be for my swing but i have tried a lot of stuff out there and they seem to be the absolute best. Callaway forged all the way if u are getting Callys. They will not be too much iron. If they are too much try a coach for instruction to set you back on track.

Go to Callawaygolfvip.com and from there if you get an athletic director and your coach to say your a golf team. Callaway will let you buy from them at cost. It is a very sweet deal and easy to setup.
