Family Trip Recommendations

Recommended Posts

I'm looking for some recommendations for a family summer vacation. I'd like to get away for about a week and would like to play golf every day or nearly every day. My wife and 13 year old daughter don't play, so I need a resort/location that has plenty of other options so they have something to do while I'm playing.

I live in FL, so while I love Orlando golf, we want to try something else. Any ideas? Thanks!

We're looking for something similar. We're about 3/4 decided that we're going to try Hilton Head. I've never been, so I can't give you experience, but it seems to have all that you're asking about, from the many people I've spoken to.

13 year old kid?
Wife?
Golf?

Two words: Myrtle Beach.

Sure...if your wife and 13-yo want to get tats and piercings.

I've been to MB for buddies trips. It's just never looked like a desirable location for a family vacation to me. But different strokes...

Pinehurst...

All the golf you want for as many days as you want. Spa and Village shopping for the girls. Just did this on Fall break with my wife and kids and they had a ball, as did I. Look on the Pinehurst website for the package deals. They are all inclusive (meals and golf are included except for #2) and you won't regret it. We are making this an annual fall trip for us...

I've actually never been in one of the them (no objection, just no time while we're down there). That's just my impression from driving around to courses, restaurants, etc.

I was considering Hiliton Head, but didn't know too much about it. Do you know which resorts are geared more towards families? I'm also going to check out Pinehurst, as I never considered it before.

My wife and I went to Sea Island last fall without our kids. I think she enjoyed it more than me (and she doesn't play golf).

We thought we could easily bring our kids on our next visit. It's a little pricey, but it was wonderful.

2nd the recommendation for Sea Island.

Try and get to their section called The Beach Club - walk to the pool and beach complex your daughter and wife will have a wonderful time. You can take a shuttle to play golf around 3 different courses and play all day - and not worry about them. They'll have a great time.

my family and I go to Kiawah Island every summer, and the kids/wife have a blast. Great beach, pools, lots of family activities every night, and short drive into Charleston. For you, 5 courses including the Ocean Course.

Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. World class resort in the Rockies. They have three great golf courses and a nice spa. You can go horseback riding, visit the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Cave of the Winds, Indian cliff dwellings, Pikes Peak, Olympic training center, and many other attractions. Great airport serviced by most major airlines. Summer weather will be sunny with temps in the 80's and low humidity. Ball flies farther at 6200 feet elevation. Is a beautiful resort.

Thanks......another good suggestion. I was actually looking at Colorado resorts this morning because I thought it would be exciting to go to the Solheim Cup too.
