All doubts vanquished. These things are stupid long!,

Finally got around to hitting a few balls with the new Taylormade Rocketbladez at a local golfsmith, but before I swung anything TM, I made sure I got a decent warmup swinging a Mizuno MP68 6 iron which is the exact set or irons I used to game right before switching to Miuras so it was something that I was familiar with and knew my distance on.

Let me preface to say that there were no Golfsmith employees near by to mess with the simulator. Just me and a rack full of irons.

So starting off I hit a few MP68 6 irons which were all consistently going about 196 yards to 210 yards if I jumped on it. Pretty consistent with my Miuras as well.

Then I proceeded to take a few swings with a Mizuno JPX 825 6 iron (not the pro) and was consistently hitting 220-225 yards. I already thought that was pretty ridiculous but I wanted some basis of comparison for these SGI irons.

Next up was the Rocketbladez. All they had out were 7 irons. Most likely because of the jacked lofts. Regardless if its a true 6 or not. What happened next I would not have believed if I hadn't done it myself. I was consistently cranking out 242-247 yard 7 irons!!! I couldn't believe what I was seeing so for the next 10 swings I randomly selected on of the three irons and swung away. Every time the numbers would fall back into their respective distances depending on the iron I was swinging.

I never thought I'd say this given the fact that I was once such a distance junkie but I would never want my 6 or 7 iron to go 240+ yards consistently! If it did, I'd have to remove all the woods out of my bag and play with 7 wedges just to fill in the gaps!

Rocketbladez is the real deal. It delivers on its promise to increase your distance. Definitely way too much for myself but anyone who has lost 40 yards on every iron in their bag over the years ought to give these things a try.

Still in awe...
I was a Div I scholarship tackle. Worked out 5-6 days a week religiously last 40 years. Owned 30 sets of irons since taking up game in 1975. Only say aforementioned to picture who is saying you hit a 7 iron farther than any human being Pro or amatuer I have ever heard of. Congradulations. That said my demo experiences with the Rocketbladez have netted me nothing in the way of added length versus other irons worth mentioning.

Any distance claims from a launch monitor are highly suspect, IMHO.
Miles of difference between a reliable launch monitor and a Golfsmith (or any big box store) simulator. I worked for 2 months at one of these and with the right setting anything is possible. I remember my first day on the job I whacked a couple 6 irons 230 yards where on something more reliable I probably carry a 6 iron just short of 190.

So you took a hyped up, jacked up lofted iron to a simulator and hit the 7 iron 250 yards. No one believes the number (unless they are delusional) and everyone recognizes the sim is jacked up. Everyone knows these irons are designed for distance so I (we) am wondering what is the point of this thread? To tell everyone the irons are longer (which everyone knows) or to make them think you are He-Man hitting it 250 on a jacked up monitor (which everyone knows).

Bad enough I wasted a minute of my life reading the thread, but another minute responding to it.

what was your SS with that "7" iron? In my absolute prime i carried a Burner 2.0 3 iron 243 or something with a SS of around 103 i think it was. Even the TMAG commercial with Dustin Johnson said he hit the same club i think 251 or something was his biggest carry.

And that was a 19 degree club that's only a couple of years old with a 2-3 iron length shaft.

To hit a 30+ degree iron 240+ carry would require....well something i'm really not familiar with

I gave them a go at PGA SS. I was swinging in the 97-99mph range. A 825 Pro w/C-Taper X 6 iron and the rocketbladez 7 iron both went about 205-210. My current 6 iron, the 800 Pro with PX 6.5 was ~205 max.

+1. . . my 6 iron = same distance as rbldzzz 7 iron, yet both clubs have almost identical lofts and club lengths. Distance through miracles . . . .

"What an incredible Cinderella story, this unknown comes outta no where to lead the pack, at Augusta. He's on his final hole, he's about 455 yards away - he's gonna hit about a two-iron I think. Oh he got all of that one! The crowd is standing on its feet here, the normally reserved Augusta crowd - going wild - for this young Cinderella, he's come outta no where, he's got about 350 yards left, he's gonna hit about a five-iron, don't you think? He's got a beautiful backswing - that's - Oh he got all of that one! He's gotta be pleased with that, the crowd is just on its feet here, uh - He's the Cinderella boy, uh - tears in his eyes I guess as he lines up this last shot, he's got about 195 yards left, he's got about a - its looks like he's got about an eight-iron. This crowd has gone deathly silent, the Cinderella story, outta no where, a former greenskeeper now - about to become the Masters champion. It looks like a mirac - It's in the Hole!"

So being big and strong automatically grants you more distance? Pretty sure Bubba Watson wasn't a div 1 tackle.

Rest of you that are doubting me...I don't blame you. But if you read my post again. I used three different irons on the same monitor with no employee around to mess with the simulator.

Doesn't much matter if the simulated is jacked. It's still a 40 yard difference.

More important is how far did the RB 4-iron travel?
You see the 7-iron is the least affected iron of the RB irons due to the new Speed Pocket...in order to keep the gaps correct once the 8-iron is used.
The 3/4 irons have the most juice from the Speed Pocket.
The 8-iron has no speed pocket.

So, try the 4-iron out and see what the LM says.

It's these incredible feats of golf strength that keep me coming back. I had to have golfsmith bend a wedge to 90 degrees so I had something for 150 yards in (yes that is of course sarcasm).

I am sure no one doubts that is what the monitor said. Of course no one believes what monitors set up at a retail store say since they help sell...demo a 7 iron and take it to the range then update us with a real world increase. I am sure if someone comes on hitting a ping anser drive 460 on a monitor you would have some doubts no?

I don't see the point, other than vanity, of selecting a set of irons based on added distance. All you're doing is narrowing the gap between your longest iron and your nearest hybrid or fairway wood, and narrowing the gap between your pitching wedge and gap/sand wedge. We get 14 clubs. Not sure why it matters if I hit my 6 iron 150 or 250 as long as I'm stuffing it pin high. Clubs like these if anything, should drive us back to how the game was traditionally played, by shot makers like Snead or Hogan. Those guys envisioned the shot and then pulled the club that would best help them achieve the desired result.
