Side Saddle/ Face on Putting Problems

I have just started trying to putt face on/ side saddle and I keep pushing the putts. How do I fix this? Are there any other problems with this method of putting?

The biggest problems tend to be getting comfortable with the stance, having too much loft, and having too flat a lie angle (which can effect contact). Get a putter that has as little loft as possible (2* or less) and a lie angle of 80* (the legal maximum). This will lead to the most consistent setup. When I messed around with this style last year, I also thought about grinding the toe of the putter down to prevent it from getting hung up.

Well the problem is that you are side saddle putting..... i kid, i kid.... Whatever gets the ball in the hole!!!

The few I've worked with in the past who embraced "face on" found that the hand propelling the putter swing had to be neutral in grip. Take a look at the twisting tension of the muscles of the forearm and wrist.

Look for the simple in terms of the kinetic movement of the arm. If you have to turn your forearm to grip the lower point of the putter you may be adding a turning moment in the forward stroke.

A photo "face on" and from the side might help us to understand the grip you are using.

You are likely taking the putter head inside on the backswing. Are you hanging the putter vertically?

A good drill is to take your anchor hand off and just use the lower hand with the butt end anchored into the shoulder. Hit some putts this way and you'll realize you can't rush the downswing by hitting at it (otherwise the anchor will come off). It will encourage a smooth pendulum motion on the downswing.
