Who thinks the '07 Burner Fairway is better than RBZ

I currently game the '07 Burner steel 3 wood and it is probably my most dependable club. Recently I tried hitting the RBZ 3 wood and I don't get the same feel, doesn't feel as explosive as my burner. I also had tougher time making consistent contact with it, I don't know if that has to do with shaft length or not. My results weren't as nice too alot of pushes.

I currently am converting over from Taylormade to Ping this year but I don't think I am getting rid of my Burner and actually may purchase a 5 wood as well. The Ping FWs are nicer than RBZ too i think but I haven't found the Ping FWs to do anything special that would make me put my Burner on the rack.

So anyone else still gaming the '07 Burner fairway woods? And if you do, have you hit anything recently that you think would make you replace it?

Stellar club that burner 07 was. Sold a mint tour issue head and replaced it with an RBZ and am regretting it to this day. I struggled from the Deck with the RBZ. I do think however that the Stage 2 is a much improved club and probably on par or better than the Burner.

I hit the Ping G25 3 wood extensively yesterday, and man, that club is very reminiscent of the burner in shape and sound. I think I'm going that route.

I haven't hit the G25 yet but I definitely was interested too. I was having the same problem with the RBZ, off the deck I had a lot of trouble, with my Burner I love that all I have to do is set up to the ball and swing and the ball just travels for miles.

Its an odd feeling to try out new clubs for a club that I love, almost feels like I am being cheating on my Burner. My only complaint of my burner is the condition its in, the head is dulled and all scratched up (not by my doing) and it would be nice to look at something clean and less distracting than that graphic they put on the Burner heads.

OP, plenty of love still for the '07 Burners, FW and Driver. Plus, though plenty of people buy into the changes in FW technology, I would say that people cling to their favorite fairway woods more than any other club. Nothing wrong with that.

I will add that last week, I stumbled upon a new but shop-worn '07 Burner 3w at Dick's on clearance, and couldn't pass it up at the ridiculous price of $8. Won't jump into my bag, but glad to have it.

I also have an '07 Burner TP 17.5* 5w that is as good as most other fairway woods I have tried. Just classic fairway woods imo.

They must be better as my buddy put his Taylormade RBZ 3 wood away and put his old 3 wood back in his bag that was the 2007 Burner. He said it was okay to tee off but bad off the deck as he either pulled it or hit worm burners with it.He asked if i wanted to buy it but i could not hit it either. He has about a 5 handicap.Man he is sorry he bought it.

I have an '07 Burner 5 wood that's money as well. Mine was all scratched up too, so I refinished it this winter and it came out really nice. I play a TEE XCG5 3 wood that sets up and swings very similar, they are a good combo for me.

Do you have any pics of the refinished club? What did you do with it?

I feel like the RBZ was like a mini driver head, looks nice off the tee but when you put against the ball on the deck the profile just doesnt look right. The sound and feel of the '07 Burner is much better than RBZ. Probably because of the material, the '07 has such a nice crisp and responsive feel while the RBZ is tingy and contact never felt as solid either.

I can get some pictures later this afternoon. It's nothing special, I just prepped the crown, masked it off, and shot it with some leftover PPG I had laying around. I play a navy blue theme with my bag, navy blue VDR grips, ferrules etc, so I decided to try something new and shot the crown navy blue as well. I'm not sure it will stay that way, but I figured what the heck, it was worth a try.

*edit* after thinking about it, I think it might be an '08 Burner. I'll still post up a picture though.

I think a lot of people get talked out of the RBZ because "word on the street" is that it is hard to hit from the deck. I have not found that to be the case at all. I have two 3-woods (RBZ and TEE). I have no problem at all with the RBZ getting airborne, but the stock shaft is a bit loose for me. I am in the process of looking at a variety of replacement shafts to stick in the RBZ to give it a good run. My TEE has the Aldila RIP Phantom and I might go the same route with the RBZ. I gamed the 07 too, like many others around here and thought it was great; but today's technology is better for me. I might give the Ping G25 a run due to comments on here, but Ping's have always been just "ok" for me; straight, but not very long at all.

The 07 Burner Driver and fairways were great. Frankly,
I don't think TM has improved on these. They deserve
"classic" status.

I haven't hit the Rocketballz so I can't comment on it, but I've got the Burner 3 wood and I absolutely hate it. Maybe if I hit the RBZ it would change my mind about the Burner but I doubt it. That being said, I think personal preference matters more on fairway woods than probably any other club in the bag. If any of y'all that like the club want an extra one let me know and maybe we can work out a deal.

I love the RBZ, but it comes down to confidence. If you think you are going to hit a club better in your mind or it looks better you tend to hit it better.

I had an 07 Burner 3 Wood with a NV 65 stiff and loved it, but for some reason I thought having something more current would work out better. I found a can't turn it down type of deal on a razr fit 3 Wood and bagged it instead while selling the burner. Big mistake indeed.

Picked up another 07 burner on the cheap just last week and tossing a fubuki alpha 73x in it tomorrow in hopes that I can pick up where we left off.

It should go down as classic status for a fairway, if only the graphics on the crown were better.

Just got to hit down on the RBZ off the deck - trying to sweep it doesn't work as well.
