What an idiotic snow day. I can still see my driveway!

    Grrrr... stop snowing!!!! image/angry2.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':angry22:' />

On the bright side, bought my 8-year-old daughter a new set of golf clubs on clearance at Golf Galaxy. Was able to take her out to Family Sports range on Saturday afternoon. image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

My neighbor is taking me out to Blackstone on Sunday morning. I'm sure we'll be waking up to a foot of snow again. image/biggrin.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />

Gorgeous day for a round, albeit a tad breezy at times. I'm loving my new irons; hitting them about a club longer than before.

Looking out at this bleak, snowy landscape, I take comfort knowing that my neighbor booked a tee-time for Black Bear for Sunday afternoon. Going to be an awesome weekend.

Nothing good can come out of Black Bear if you start triple-quad on the first two holes. Yikes. Thankfully I was much more consistent the last 16 holes with a mix of pars and bogeys (and two birdies--along with about four missed opportunities thanks to aerated greens).

Hopefully the weather holds up on Sunday for Colorado National. *sigh* Miss Swede's gymnastics meet on Sunday at 7:45am...in Colorado Springs. *double sigh*

I got in my round at the East Course at the Broadmoor this past Monday. Boy, what an experience. The entire resort is top notch and I highly recommend a stay there. The Sunday Brunch is spectacular, even at $50 a person. The golf course was in pretty good shape considering the time of year and the recent weather. The staff is unbelievably helpful and pleasant. The practice facilities are top notch as well. I definitely understand why it is a 5-star resort.

Oh yeah, and the East Course is an absolute monster of a track. The greens are unbelievably tricky, with putts seemingly defying gravity at times. The course is magnificent. There's a little bit of everything out there. From 240 yard par 3's, 620 yard par 5's, and 475 yard par 4's, with holes that require precise drives, others that require pinpoint precision with your approach, and every hole requires a thought out approach around and on the greens. When the wind started to blow, even gently, the difficulty increased dramatically. What an amazing course. I can't speak highly enough of it. I should've brought my camera to take pictures. If you ever get the opportunity to play any of the Broadmoor's 3 courses you need to jump at it!

No. This is part of the golf league. It's a somewhat annoyingly long drive up there, so a 10-pack would be a waste for me.

This was the league's second tournament of the season, and my first. I shot a craptacular 86, but it was still good enough for overall low gross (and a $40 pro shop gift card). It helps two of the league's low-handicappers were playing a Golf Channel event, and the third was out with the flu.

Sadly, my daughter's gymnastics schedule has coincided too well with my golf league, so I'll be playing in significantly fewer tournaments than originally planned in May/June.

My new neighbor plays on the Golf Channel Amateur Tour. I'm really hoping I get a chance to golf with him. His friend that caddies for him every once in a while said his drives are 375+!!! image/bb.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':bb:' />

On a crappy note, I got fitted for a 913D2 and can't hit it for sh!t. Time to head back to the fitter to see what's up. I should have just stuck with the stock Kai’li, as I was crushing it on the LM. I thought I could do better. Hopefully I can get this sorted out, because it destroyed my round last weekend.

Played Lone Tree GC yesterday. Had a BOGO coupon that made it $48/person including cart.

The course was in great shape. I wish my golf game was. image/sad.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':(' /> To be fair, it was my first time swinging clubs in almost a month.

Playing Murphy Creek on Saturday, then my next time playing will be in Sweden in mid/late-July (thankfully with my own clubs this time).

Is the BOGO coupon easily acquired? I would love to play there. I typically just rely on golfnow for deals. Got to play Omni Interlocken last weekend for $69

The BOGO coupon came with a coupon package sold door-to-door by some local high schoolers. It was only valid after 2pm on weekends. GolfNow has a similar rate for after 2pm on weekends ($49-ish).

Normally I'd be pretty satisfied with an 81 at Murphy Creek. But when you lose eight strokes on 9, 16, 17, and 18, you actually feel frustrated.

On the bright side, I won my match play 5 & 4.

Brief course review: the course is in decent shape. A few of the greens have some massive GUR spots, where you have to move the ball. As someone noted, if you just miss a bunker (especially the ones in the fairway), you may want to take a provisional--it's absolutely brutal trying to find it in that junk. And unless you have a good eye on it going into the rough, taking a provisional is recommended.
