WITB of a junior golfer. Lots of pictures!!!!

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody, I'm currently a sophomore in high school and am in love with the game of golf. I currently don't have a handicap but shoot right around 80. I haven't played in a month because of a lot of school work but am eager to get back out on the course soon. Enough talking, here's what's in my bag:

Bag

Titleist Lightwieght Black 2011 model. This bag will be around for years to come because it's very comfortable, lightweight, and efficient.

Driver

Titleist 913 D2 9.5* set at B2 with a Diamana S+ Blue 62 Stiff shaft with custom black paintfill that I did myself. I just got this club recently paying for it with all of my own money and love it. I don't know why, but this club seems longer than the Ping G15 that I had before. I love the 913 D2. Her name is "Shirley"

3 wood

Ping G20 15* with a TFC 169F Stiff shaft with custom red and white paintfill. This is my short par 4 killer, every now and then it will hook on me but the great feel and flight of the club makes up for those rare hooks.

3 hybrid

Taylormade Rescue 11 18.5* set at half of a degree higher loft with an Aldila Rip 65 HB Stiff Shaft. I've really been hitting this club well lately and am loving it.

4 hybrid

Adams Idea Tech V3 22* with a Bassara 55 Stiff Shaft. This is my favorite club in my bag because it's so clutch. I can hook it, slice it, hit it high or low whenever I want which makes it so valuable. I hit my first par 5 in two with this club in a tournament with a low slicing shot from about 200 yards out but proceeded to three put from just on the green! :swoon:

Irons

Adams CB2 (5 through Gap Wedge) with True Temper Dynamic Golf S300 Shafts. These irons have always been good to me, some might find it strange/wussy of me that I don't carry a four iron but I play my 4 hybrid because it's more consistent and easier to hit.

Wedges

Titleist Vokey SM4 Oil Can 54* and 58* that I rusted and a few months later I put Naval Jelly on them to remove the rust. I really love these wedges, my 54* is my favorite of the two because I can hit it low or high and I just feel really confident with it in my hands. I have the red paint fill on my 54 and blue paint fill on my 58*.

Putter

Ping Anser Milled #2 33". I love my putter and have had some ups and downs with it but am feeling confident with it right now. I have blue paint fill on my Anser.

Ball

Srixon Z-Star XV with a blue dot to the right of the number.

Ball Markers

The Players ball marker and 2011 PGA Championship ball marker. I use the Players ball marker in casual rounds with my friends and my dad but use my PGA Championship ball marker in tournaments. I got the 2011 PGA Championship ball at the tournament of Sunday but didn't stay late enough to see Keegan win, it's my favorite ball marker in my bag.

This is what's in my bag guys. Thank you very much for checking it out!

how did you rust your wedges?
I put some Coca-Cola in bowl and let my wedges sit in them overnight which takes the finish off of the wedges, then I put some salt and water in a bowl and let my wedges soak overnight and them let them out to dry and VOILA there you have it, rusty wedges!

you play with them...water+raw metal= rust...if 90 percent of the people on here would keep their clubs for more than 30 seconds, they would see. There is something more sexy about a bag of 5 year old seasoned clubs than a brand new bag. Im sure many will agree

Well if you played with them for that long you wouldnt have any grooves left. I like having grooves on my wedges personally, makes a lot of shots easier. As far as im concerned, you can keep your beat up "sexy" clubs. I like mine fresh, makes a difference come tournament time. The only reason I want to rust my wedges is to make them as less glare as possible and stripping the finish with coke makes them softer.

Who knows?

This is completely false. The finish on those Vokeys would not allow the club to rust naturally for a LONG time.. if ever. Have you ever seen Ping Eye 2's rust.. I haven't.. The only way to get these clubs to rust is to strip the finish to expose the bare metal and allow it to rust.. which the OP did and they look awesome!!

Nice to see some other people with CB2's. I love mine. Thinking about replacing the shafts (stock KBS Tour90) with something a little stronger. How are the S300's?
I'm really liking the S300s, at first I really noticed that my shot shape patterns were tighter, and I had lower launch but you grow into them very easily.
nice bag, just an opinion, i would avoid red paint fill, it always looks pink

also try adding in another color, two colors looks better then one, but just my .02 $
I like the red personally, but I'm definitely going to change the paint fill on my irons and 4 hybrid so I think gold might be the color for them!

Nice sticks. Sweet paint fill too, that putter looks awesome.

Thanks man!

Cb2's look great, especially all worn and beaten up. Solid bag and very comprehensive and thorough Witb. Good job.

I appreciate it!

If you hit the ball enough with vokeys they will wear and the chrome will go away on the face. If you dont believe me go check out my older witb. I have my grooves professionaly sharpened and had them for about 3 years and on every single one of them I had a wear spot. I have since replaced 2 of them but on all 3 of my vokeys I had a nice rust spot.

I don't really understand how you can have such a serious bag without having a handicap, especially as a junior I would of thought you would want to get playing comps and for your school or local club.
Actually a lot of the top amateurs don't carry a handicap.

I really can't believe it's that different in America in the uk you pretty much have to have a handicap even in gross comps.

Did you find that you hit your 4 hybrid farther than your CB2 4 iron? Considering doing the same to my bag with adding a rocketballz 4 hybrid but the snow just doesn't stop coming this year so I can't try it out on the range!
Yeah I do hit the 4 hybrid farther than the 4 iron, but that's no problem because I can always grip down or cut my shot to take some distance off.
