Titleist "Ho" thinking about Nike Irons

Recommended Posts

Long time Titleist guy now thinking about switching my 735CM's to Nike Pro Combo Tour. Though easy to hit, the 735 head feels much harder than my 690CB's (not the "dots"). Should I wait and try the 695CB's next spring or try to pick up a set of Nike's??

I have used the Nike raw redline wedges for over a year and like their forged feel to that of the cast Vokey's.

Would never carry anything but a Titleist driver and a Cameron putter.

As a loyal Titleist user I demand that you be locked away if you switch to Nike.

I could never consider such a change, but to each his own, I am saying no just because I could never play Nike, but there are alot of guys on this site that will give you a vote for the other side, it all comes down to personal preference and confidence in what you are playing. Good luck ( and don't be silly and make a bad choice)

And make sure you change your user name.

It's very disappointing to hear this about the 735s. I've heard they were "miz like soft", but recently i've heard a mixed review. I'm not a big fan of the 05 Retail Nike Procombo tour. They just look too wild, but they are a good club I know that. With that said, I do expect Nike's line to get better and better from here on in.

Have it the Pro-combo's (co-worker has a set), have not hit 735's, but I have had forged Titleist irons before. As the add says "Nothing feels like a Mizuno" How about a mixed set of mp-60's/mp-33's....??

It's interesting .... the buzz of the 735's seems strangely silent lately, have they not lived up to their billing?

PS I'm developing a strange interest in NIke gear lately...... :idhitit:

Thanks to all, must have been a moment of weakness.  Being the "Ho" that I am, can't wait for the 695CB's and the 905R.  I will hold out for a forged Vokey, I can't believe that Ernie, Davis and A. Scott play a cast wedge.

To bad you're making the wrong decision :idhitit: , Nike's are the sure way to go

i myself am a nike ho, but i really like titleist and mizuno stuff too. that said, the pro combos are real nice. i'm not sure why anyone would say they are wild looking, least not the new tour pro combos. i play the original pro combos and the only big difference between these and the tours are the shafts, medallion, bounce and finish (back of club). i've played these irons for 1-1/2 years and they have been great.

don't let the fact that they are nike make you think twice. they are not designed by a shoe company, but rather a guy who worked at ben hogan for years and learned under Mr. Hogan himself. anyone who hates nike because its nike is narrow minded. if these irons were done by mizuno or titleist or taylormade they probably will be the hottest iron, but instead they are nike and the other companies are trying to come up with something as good as the pro combo set (not saying pro combos are the greatest ever clubs, but hands down the best combo set).

as a comparison, i've hit the 690mb, 690cb, 735 (into a net only), mp 32 and mp60 (into a net only). i thought the 735 were hard and had a click sound to them. i liked the 690's but found them not forgiving enough when playing 36 holes. like the mizuno for the feel, how soft they felt. the mp 32 are nice, and more forgining the the titleist, but not as forgiving as the pro combo. i think the the pro combo gives you the great feel of mizuno, the shot control and precision of the 690's and unequal to forgiveness. i've hit a 200 yd 3-iron off the toe, and also been able to hit a 220 yd cut shot and get it to stick 15 feet from the hole with that same 3-iron.

what i like most about the pro combo's is they are forgiving on mishits, but not so forgiving they will hide swing flaws. if you come over the top big time, its way right. you come inside out bigtime or turn your wrist over big time your way left.

do not be scared of nike. if they were any other name, there wouldn't be such a big deal.

Thank God you saw the light and came back to your senses. I was having a panic attack and was worried I wouldn't be able to sleep tonight.

Welcome back :idhitit:
