Project X rusting?

Do these things rust on the outside?

I just got a set of new Project X shafts, and was a little surprised to find some small rust spots on the outside of the shafts. A little chrome polish/rust remover took care of the problem, but I wonder if I am going to face this problem long term once I install these shafts.

Anyone had this problem (or heard of it) before?

I've had the same problem small rust spots occuring near the grip. Since then every month I spary some WD40 on a cloth and rub it all over the shaft, after that there are no more rust spots.

In 35+ years of playing golf, I've never seen rust on the outside of a golf shaft.

I'm serious. Heck I've got clubs in the basement that are 25 years old, and not a speck of rust.
