As a PGA member my fees are only 35$ but I brought a friend out last time we played both the Dunes and Shore courses and he had to pay 125$ for each. As a reciprocal I believe it's more pricey probably in the 200$-300$. When I was there in May both courses were very dry and not worth 200$ to play compared to Spyglass. They are holding the Califorina State Am there as I am writing this so course is primo shape and should be good for the rest of the summer as Monterey summer is longer and later than most around Cali.

Guest fee for the shore in February was $450 plus forecaddie.
That would be the "unaccompanied" guest fee right? Surely guests of a member aren't charged that much?
If he's asking about reciprocity, I'm guessing he doesn't know a member.

One thing is for sure, if you have your pro call be prepared to pay whatever it is....or risk your pro not being as willing to call places for you in the future. But since you're asking here, guessing you already know that.

I'm planning a trip for my dad's 70th birthday. I understand MPCC allows guests via their reciprocal policy. Does anyone know what the guest fee is? Thanks in advance.
You should call them and ask about fees, procedures for reciprocal play, and payment method. I'm sure they would be accommodating.

Or you could see if Nor-Cal Scratch needs to fill out a foursome. ;0)

I was fortunate enough to play the Shore course last April with a member and was comped as a PGA professional. I really enjoyed how the course played firm, fast and tight. Surprisingly, I enjoyed the holes in the trees as much as the ones on the water. Highly recommend it!

Expect to pay the unaccompanied rate. The unaccompanied rate at any club is designed for reciprocity when not accompanying a member. I'm not sure why members of other clubs expect to pay the member's guest rate??? So depending on season I would imagine its $200-$400.

+1 on if your pro calls... expect to pay what the other course is asking. If you say "no way" your jeopardizing other members at your club from playing their in the future. So be serious when you ask your pro to reach out.

A lot of the same courses I've played, wish you had some of Koele as you have some from Manele. Preserve is tough to get on as they have less then 150 members and very exclusive. And far as MPCC 450$ + forecaddy is really pushing it, I'll be down there this weekend to play Spyglass and Quail Lodge in Carmel, I will let you kno what shape MPCC is in, but in my opinion you can spend the same amount of $ and go play Spyglass with a caddy and still have room for a top notch dinner.

MPCC $450. :cheesy:

Play Spyglass instead.
+$100 for a forecaddie (not including gratuity +$100) = Pebble and Spyglass in one day. Easy decision. This is what they quoted my head pro when we looked into it yesterday. On top of that, they wouldn't guarantee which course we would play, and our tee time was 5:00 PM. It would have been more polite to say, "No. Hell no you can't play. Go away." But, that's probably what they were going for. Job well done.

I played Koele eight years ago when I was 8 I don't remember the whole course but I remember it was my favorite at the time I loved seeing the deer and I remember playing into the clouds on 16 and smacking a drive on 17. I will be returning next year I am extremely excited to play their and Manele on a 36 hole day

I think its nice that a place like MPCC opens it doors to outside play. The price is high but if you look at the areas surrounding public courses it is well justified and its a worthy track.

Just to confirm. for the two of you it will cost $990? I'm curious to hear what you think of the course.

I played with a guy at Pebble a few yrs back and he absolutely loved the course, but he also paid a lot less than you are.

Agree 100%. For $980 out there you could:
- buy a Duke's Club card for $300
- play a round at Spyglass ($195 per)
- play a round at Spanish Bay ($145 per)
- and then get 20% off your dinner and bar tab in the Tap Room or almost any other PB/Spanish Bay restaurant.

Also, instead of Spanish Bay you could play early at Spyglass and if a replay at Pebble is available that PM, then you're on there for $245. That doesn't even bring in the options of playing Pasatiempo, Bayonet, or Blackhorse either.

I used to really want to play MPCC but IMO the current fees provide little incentive to do so given what other great courses surround it and offer a better bang for your buck (relatively speaking of course).

Bayonet is $45 at twilight. Crazy spending that much for MPCC.

Bumping this old thread. Does anyone have more recent information about MPCC's guest fees, accompanied and unaccompanied?

Thanks

I just played up there. The unaccompanied guest fee was roughly 500 plus a caddie. It came out to about 700 a guy. Maybe a little more with the half way house grab as well. The regular guest fee is about 175 I believe when playing with a member. It also could depend on time of the week.

Thank you. Do you know if the course(s) is/are closed on Mondays? If I do play it would likely be accompanied so that is a lot easier to swallow than $500 + caddie. I'll only be in San Francisco for a few days in May so need to decide if MPCC is worth the cost and drive down for.
