sbjinx WITB...update 2019

Recommended Posts

New year and a start of a new bag :) Picked up the CT 2.0 and set of TM Tour Preferred 4-5 CB and 6-PW MC. But the best purchase to date is the Versa #7 CS. I was miserable on the greens and the CS has given me new hope. I only have 2 rounds with it but I feel like I’m making a better stroke and giving me more confidence on the greens. If I can consistently play like I did today, my bag for 2014 will be set other than for new wedges (most likely the TM Tour Preferred) and maybe a 3 wood. I’ll post some better pictures but here is what I have going for me at the moment.

picked up a couple of new shafts to play around with. Been playing real well but had a couple of bad drives that ruined a otherwise great round. Been thinking about ditching the R1 and going back to the 913 D2 again (ho'ing is such a disease)

I dont get a lot of comments  but i get a lot of views so i figured i'll continue to post updates.

after a few bad rounds and a tourney coming up (just my annual tourney with friends over 3 days in Palm Desert), I decided to give up the R1 and go with the Stage 2. I gave up on the R1 before (white) and picked up a RBZ and had 2 great rounds with it, and once the black R1 came out, went back to the R1 (i know but it looked so cool).

So I went back to the shop on sunday to test the Stage 2 and 913 D2 (not the longest but most forgiving for me during my first testing). When I wasnt really playing much, I wanted distance with some forgiveness but now that I'm playing at least once a week and posting some good scores, I want forgiveness over distance (funny how that works). I had a couple runs at 72 (didnt get it btw) and the few bad drives really hurt my score (the 3 putts didnt help either but another story). I really wanted the 913 (i hate how the Stage 2 looks) but i couldnt ignore the performance of the and with the tourney and couple of golf trips coming up, decided to go with the RBZ (and i actually think it felt better than the D2).

anyways took it to the range last night and it validated what i was seeing at the store. So I think my driver search is over (until the SLDR hits the store lol).

i'll get a pic up later tonight.

I like this bag. Classic 3 wood, mizuno irons and a putter covered in lead tape. What's not to like?

I was thinking of picking up a DHY but went with the H4 3 iron instead as I already have the 2 iron and really like it.

Driver - TBD
3 Wood - TBD
5 Wood - Mizuno MX700, PF v2
4-PW - Adams CMB, C-Taper
Wedges - Mizuno T4 52/58, S400
Putter - Odyssey Versa #7, SS 3.0
Ball - TF Gamer

thanks guys. here is the driver that I'm planning to go with for a while (until i get my hands on the SLDR). played with it for the first time on Wed and hit 65% of the fairways and more importantly my misses weren't bad at all. The true test is this weekend when I have my annual buddy's tourney in palm desert. playing 36 holes over 2 days. sounds great except that its looking like 105+* sat and sunday.

thanks GJ. Yeah the driver worked out pretty well. I dont know how people regularly play in places that are 105. After the 3rd hole, all i was thinking about was the pool and ice cold pina coladas

Love the feel and the extra height I get from the AD over the Motore (always had issues getting my launch angle up). I'm still getting the distance i want and roll so its still a low spin shaft as advertised.

I'm in the same boat, waiting for the SLDR to come out.

Love it. Looks, feels and flys better than the RBZ 2. I've tried the DI first, the stock 57 and now the TP speeder. Digging the TP speeder at the moment. Haven't played in a bit so hard to compare the shafts on the course but hoping to get some rounds in this week and also post updated pics.

Yeah I've had it now for a few rounds and the on course performance is similar. Plus I love the look, feel and sound of the 2.0. Trying to figure out the shaft since I'm pretty sure it doesn't fit my swing. It's going to be the 2.0 or SLDR since there isn't anything else that really catches my interest

I'm trying to build a bag similar to yours...nice!
Thanks man. I'm loving my bag right now. Last year I couldn't keep a club in a bag more than a few weeks but right now I feel like I can play these clubs forever, if there is such a thing for us lol.

The only thing I'm looking for now is a 3 wood and a new shaft for the driver. Anyways can't wait to see how your bag turns out, good luck.

picked up a new shaft for the Covert since I wasn't loving the KK and wanted to get some additional height on my drives. Got good numbers when I tested the shaft so I'm hoping it translates to the course. And of course, I get the shaft in the mail and its suppose to rain all weekend.

Not to thread steal but went JETSPEED ..........
curious to hear what you liked about the Jetspeed over the CT. I haven't had a chance to test the Jetspeed yet but they seem like two opposite types of drivers.

I'll probably get a ct2 but hearing everyone "lofting up" and swing speed sub 95 with low launch characteristics, I've decided to go in slightly different direction.

CP2 doesn't suit my eye as well as CT2 .......

JETSPEED ......reminds me of 913d2 w graphics
friend has one and I've seen him hit a lot of drivers. .....low spin, nice sound , high performance with easier launch. ....

The thought of Rory and Charl driver tantalized me but alas I NEED more help!!!! JETSPEED does that as Enis750 found out. .....beating sldr out awhile back......ltd is in his bag now but for him, sean2 and a few TOUR pros it works!

Kinda tired of thinking my swing allows me to do the things of my past...... but I can still generate too much spin at higher launch. .....JETSPEED seems to handle this issue.

Not yet but it's on my to do for this weekend. I was also thinking about checking out the CP driver to see if I can get some additional height on my drives. I picked up the 661 speeder so maybe the CP with that is the ticket.

I'll post a full bag pic this weekend but the CT 2.0 is out and SLDR is in. I really liked everything about the CT 2.0 expect for the flight I was getting. Even at the highest setting (12.5*) I was hitting low bullets. But for whatever reason the SLDR set at 11* was giving me a higher launch and still keeping the spin down (and no, I wasnt getting 17/1700 but more like 12-14/low 2000s).

And since I was loving the retail head so much, I splurged a little and picked up a tour issue head. Haven’t had a chance to take it to the range/course yet (stupid work) but the first thing I noticed is how much better the club feels in my hand. I always though the SLDR was head heavy but the lighter tour issue head really makes the club feel more normal. I’ll do a full write up but wanted to share a quick pic.
