Anyone play "practice" balls?

I play the Nike 20XI-X ball. Love the ball to death but obviously the price is a bit steep. I've started to see packaged Pro V1 practice balls at my local GolfTown so it got me thinking. I did an ebay search for the Nike 20XI-X golf ball and sure enough I came across these, http://www.ebay.com/itm/330955826374?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649.

Does anyone here play practice versions of their balls out on the course? Other than quality control standards not being meet, are there any other differences between a regular top of the line golf ball (Pro V1, 20XI, etc) compared to their practice counterparts?

Thanks in advance!

I hear there is no difference.

I dont play them. It's a mental thing. If I see PRACTICE on the ball, I dont feel as comfortable. I have played just a well with practice balls as I have with new but it still bugs me when I can see it.

It's all mental for me. It takes a sense of "possession" away from me and my ball.

For me it's mainly the price. I don't lose balls a lot, but I do have rounds where I push and pull balls and I cannot find them in the rough. I see where they go, but just can't spot them once I get to where it landed.

I love the feel of the 20XI-X ball and don't want to go to a cheaper ball that feels too hard and that I cannot spin nearly as much with my wedges as I can the Nike ball. I don't play in tournaments at the moment, but my golf is taken seriously. I just want to make sure my game isn't going to be affected by purchasing these balls.

Story of my life. Hit a great shot and the ball disappears. Or I hit a nice meaty 250 yard snap hook or power slice off the tee as I watch it sore into the unknown in amazement. I lost 7 balls yesterday 2 in the woods and the rest went into the black hole. That's usually the case when course conditions are long and ground is soggy wet.

I buy from LGB.com. Prov's and Z-Stars.

Ive played penta practice balls...and if they are different than the normal ones im not good enough to notice.

I've been playing the penta and penta tp5 practice balls for a while and just recently two of the penta practice balls have cracked after two rounds with each ball. Not a scratch but actually cracked through the ball. Hopefully both were from the same sleeve and thats all that are like this.

Yes, I use the Lethal PRACTICE balls. Grabbed quite a stash of them when they were around $16/dozen at 3ballsgolf.com but that deal is gone.

Best deal right now on them seems to be Taylormadegolfoutlet.com with the TMAGOUTLET10 coupon code. Balls are $19.95/dozen with free shipping and the coupon brings them down to $17.95 shipped. Or you can order seven dozen for $115 shipped using their current "$25 off orders of $125 or more" promotion.

But anyway, can't tell that the PRACTICE ones are any different except for the stamping that says "PRACTICE"...

I only play practice balls. Bought 250 pro v1s a couple years ago for a steal. The practice is the same as the regular balls and are legal in tournament play. X OUTS on the other hand are blemished and not legal in tournament play. I never buy refinished balls as most are water balls that have been put through a re-bleaching process.

practice balls are the exact same as normal ones except that they have a cosmetic blemish. NOTHING wrong with them, just micro details that weren't correct. Refurbished balls are a different story, personally I'd never buy a refurbished ball.

20x1 is a nice ball. I wish I hadn't missed out on the killer deal they had on them a while back. Been getting some really good penetrating drives with them and they bite well too. As for the practice like was mentioned just a small blemish, I'd play them for sure.

RBG has the Lethal for 19.99 there also on eBay.
They say practice, big deal.
When I get down to my last 20-30 Tp3 balls, I'm picking some up to try.

I used to play Titleist NXT Tour S yellow practice balls and they were great. Then I switched to the e6 and now the Project(a).
