Froth's Bag of tricks and random old stuff. (updated 9/02/14)

UPDATED 9/02/14, Refresh if you use cookies. (Or don't).

Bag:

- Ogio 2013 Vapor.

Driver: SLDR 460 10.5°, R1 Sleeve set -2°, actual loft 8.5° with ~3° open face angle (Shaft: DG X100, Tipped 3". Play length 44.5")

4 Wood: Tour Edge Exotics XCG6 16.5° (Shaft: DG X100, Tipped 4". Play length 42.25")

Irons: 2-PW 1994 RAM FX Tour Grind / 18° 2 iron to 49° PW (Shafts: Rifle FCM Platinum 7.0)

SW: - Callaway JAWS CC X series 56°(Bent to 55°) / Custom ground (Shaft: S400 straight in)

LW: - Callaway JAWS CC X series 60° / Custom ground (Shaft: S300 & 3/8" tip trim)

All 13 clubs are gripped with Pure DTX.

Putter: Highly modified Ping Cushin, Face Balanced and 40g+ of lead tape. 71° lie, 5.5° loft.

Grip: Two back-to-back Salty Grips, totaling 21" of beautiful cork image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> (Hands down best thing in my bag.)

Shaft: "Stock" Big Z single bend shaft, added length to 43.75" for arm lock use

Ball: - Callaway Supersoft

Bag as I carry it:

Covers off:

Really like the DTX, the texture seems to open up more when stretched over my buildup tape, it's a good thing!

Driver and 4 wood, the XCG6 has been awesome thus far.

Irons, really a nice 90's V-groove forging, lots of mass behind the ball. Nice and soft, very easy to bend loft/lie.

- Lots of lead, tuning swingweights from D7-E0 through the set.

2 iron surprised me, usually I need a lot of lead on the 2 to bring it up to D7 but this one came out right on the money with none. Has to be a sign... image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Wedge grinds, nothing even close to the labeled bounce on the hosel, Oh well. They work fantastic for the conditions around here.

Lots of lead on the putter, at 610g total weight it's by far the heaviest club in my bag.

One of the best things in my bag, the custom Armlock Salty

Thanks for looking!

I'm sure I forgot something. Oh well, that's why there's an edit button.

Great stuff Froth! I like the fact that you don't switch gear every six months. :-)

Not listing anything under 80yds, the LW/SW is used for anything inside 80yds depending on conditions/course. All of these yardages can be +/- 5yds depending on what is needed for a specific shot I don't swing 100% on irons except for once in a blue moon when I need to cover an odd yardage in a specific condition.

    LW 80-110

    SW 100-130

    PW 125-150

    9iron 165

    8iron 170

    7iron 185

    6iron 200

    5iron 220

    4iron 235

    3iron 245

    2iron 255

    4 wood 265-280

    Driver 300-315+ (Yeah, yeah...yeah.)

I'm 6'3"(barefoot, 6'4" in any shoes) 195lbs and very muscular but toned, not bulky. I worked as a Mechanic for 10yrs so I was on my feet 10+ hours a day picking up 100+lb wheel/tire combinations and transmissions/other heavy things. Over time I have developed very strong hands/arms/wrists. I have an incredible grip pressure, my hands have been described as "sandpaper vicegrips" because of all my calluses. Oddly enough with all the incredibly stupid crap I've done I have never fully broken a bone, Just fractured one vertebrae in my back(L5).

After playing 18 today, I am taking the 3Iron out of the bag in favor of a fourth wedge, I could have really used a fourth wedge today so a 60° Wilson Staff Tour Wedge TK 60 is going in the bag with a Wedge flex Dynamic Gold. Making my wedges PW49/SW56/TW60/LW64. Three all the same length, the LW is 1/2" shorter. Each wedge has a different purpose and grind.

Pics updated to reflect current bag, 100% happy with bag now.

Rained a ton today, course I went to play(7200yds from the Tips!!! Four par 3's over 200yds) was closed due to standing water, Boo. Will try to play it tomorrow, really happy with how the wedges performed on the range. 4 Wedges for me works better than a 3 Iron I might hit once a round by far.

Came to the conclusion that I have the wrong shaft in my driver, It's STUPID long but the torque just isn't giving me the accuracy I would like. Over 27 holes I have hit TWO Fairways with the new driver, the old one was much more accurate even with a 48" shaft but a good 10-20yds shorter. Right now I am taking the 48" XX-Stiff shaft out of the 975J and putting it into the 907D2, then butt-trimming it 2" to 46" total length. Playing 18 Friday, Will see how it performs.

Both shafts are Paragon, The one I'm taking out of the 907D2 is the Pro-Long and the one going in is a Tour Players Edition Low Torque X-stiff tipped 2", and it's RAIL solid, doesn't twist a single mm.

I do not have a current up-to-date handicap. I have not played a full year since 2004-2005 when I was a +0.2 over about 70 rounds then I hurt my back. I basically quit golf from 2005-2012 to be an Auto Mechanic full time, I played 4-5 times a year, if that. I am using 2013 to get myself prepared for 2014 where I will be attempting a lifelong goal of true tournament competition(mini tour stuff). I love tournament golf, the atmosphere is intoxicating...I competed in many Junior tournaments in my younger days(ages 12-18) but I never really played with a purpose then - Was just something to do and have fun with. I've played about 10 full 18 hole rounds this year, and I am slowly getting my swing and feel back. When I get everything in tune I will be fully committing myself to golf.

    - Most of the time I have spent this year has been getting my equipment back up to spec since it basically sat for 7-8 years collecting dust, needed new shafts, new Driver and I recently added my current Putter which is bar none the best thing in my bag hands down.

Love the bag Froth. My eldest is still carrying one of those PING 5-pockets. I notice you really like the Salty putter grip. Can you elaborate on why? I personally think they'd feel wonderful and offer the most feedback possible (besides a bare shaft) but wonder about their durability.
