Taylormade SLDR Fairways?

I really like the looks and feel of the new Taylormade SLDR. Does anyone know if there is going to be a SLDR fairway wood released at any point?

There has been no info leaked on any new fwys from TM with this tech. It will be interesting to see if TM carries over this to fwys/hybrids.

Guys, it's TM.........my guess is if the driver is successful, of course they'll release FW's.

I'd like to see MWT back in fwys/hybrids but I remember TM saying that this tech does not work in those lines like it does for a driver.

I would think the weight track or whatever it's called on the bottom of the club would cause serious digging issues on a fwy or hybrid.

No need for such tech on a fw

The lack of fairways just tells me TM rushed the driver to market..

Tough to maintain 50% market share

When TM had their Q&A several weeks ago someone asked about fwys. They skirted around the issue so maybe they have something up their sleeves.

I guess you're right. I was just thinking about it because I do it all the time on long par fives or par fives that make you layup off the tee. Heck, I did it in a tournament last week. Nothing better than driver off the deck. We are a dying breed.

Not at all actually, I hit my driver off the deck at the fitting and a couple of times while playing. No issues at all and if it breaks send it back, simple.

How do you explain the lack of R1 fairways then? R1 didn't seemed rushed..........

Even if they release a fwy in this line I doubt we would see it until next spring.

Worked pretty well in the R7 fairway woods, didn't it?

Wonder if the maxed out COR and hot face is the reason that the movable weight isn't an option?

Yes it sure did. The R7 Ti TP fwys were probably my favorite fwys of all time and I could totally tell when the weights were moved in the head. I'd love to see a modernized version if this, hopefully TM will deliver something for us down the road.

I agree.

However, IMO, the R1 was simply an evolutionary product born of the R11, not an entirely new driver. As a result, TM knew they couldn't rebadge the R11 fairways and call it better. Further, the Stage 2 fairways were the Company's main focus in the fairway market, so no reason to compete with yourself. Especially when the lower price point line is likely better performing than the higher price point line.

I believe TM was unhappy with R1 sales, and felt like they needed to get this to market this year. I think this was supposed to be next years flagship driver...

And it isn't just TM doing this.

At the Oven, Nike confirmed that the Covert was originally planned as a 2014 product, but was rushed to market because they felt like they needed this tech ASAP.

Think TM are sticking to seperate drivers and fwys like the R1 and RBZ. They will probably bring out a new fwy with different tech to keep the sales up rather than 2 of the same. Bring out new things people will buy bring out a fwy of the same model and less people will buy

I don't know how well a "low launch, low spin" fairway would sell. Most seem to struggle with getting a fw airborne to begin with

No need to worry as the SLDR is "high launch, low spin" since the sliding weight and CG is low but forward on the head. That's according to TM.

As I'm reading this, I'm just trying to imagine what kind of tech would be involved in the SLDR ball. That could be some fantastic stuff...:-)

Althought that is exactly what the R11s fairway was. that wasn't even evolutionary, it was the r11 fairway with a slightly different paint job on the sole.

Wtb r1 fairways... hate the white on my r11s

A SLDR putter... that could be good actually. Being able to change the toehang if possible would be nice

Off Topic, but why have we not seen any SLDR commercials? All I see are R1 commercials. Is this because of the rush to marketplace of the SLDR?

That would be sweet. Ive been looking for a r1 v2 but a sldr 440cc with more customization would be nice
