2013 CN Canadian Womens Open

Solheim withdrawal? Have no fear, the tour is back with no time to spare. Edmonton, Alberta hosts the 2013 CWO for the first time since 2007. Once again the Royal Mayfair G&CC plays host.

Will this be the last CWO ? Can a new title sponsor be found in time for next year's calendar? Will canadianglen be arrested on the course?

Let's hear you views and *ahem* comments on these and likely the golf, too. :D

Is this the best you guys can do to troll me? Sad. Edmonton still has the unofficial attendence record from 7 yrs ago. The CN Miracle Match charity will break $2M this year, more than Vancouver or Winnipeg or Montreal.

C'mon no offense intended, just some mucking about, and with the amount of posts in the Solheim Cup thread referencing the Canadian Open, some p1sstaking was in order
The tournament - under it's various guises - does have an excellent winners list.

I will tune in and take a look to see how the Solheim Cuppers do. Too bad we're far removed from Kane's better years and don't have anyone from Canada that might get on the first page of the leaderboard, especially seeing as how the men are starting to make strides forward.

No offense taken. Good natured stick-poking is never discouraged here.
As far as the ladies' side goes, there are now 20 Canadians in the event, but we'll be lucky to have 4 make the cut. Brooke Henderson is the newest hope for future greatness, not without reason though.

I notice Christina Lecuyer of BB Dominican Republic gave it a go. I don't think Christina is actively playing professional golf anymore, so might have just been a what if kinda of deal... She got a bad rap on BB but seemed to have a serviceable game.

Noticing lot's of amateurs, and not so many Symetra players, assuming due to the travel involved.

Tuesday has come and gone and only a couple players in the field have not been seen yet. Matthew and Stanford have not shown so far. The rest of the Solheimers and others appeared today.

Brittany is not petite but she has a pretty face. She is 5'10" and she is pretty long off the tee.

I read that one of the ladies said she was driving out from Denver after the Solheim to Canada. Poor lady as that is a long drive. The LPGA is no party as the money they play for is less than the PGA and the expenses are not any less.

was very interesting to see a few things today. Charley Hull emerges from the clubhouse to head to the range. a 60 yard walk. she gets less than 20 feet before stopped. The walk takes her over 8 minutes, on a Tuesday. 30 minutes later, Yani Tseng takes the same walk. She gets to the range in under 2 minutes.

I had to laugh at the matchup the oddsmakers came up with: Brittany Lang vs. Caroline Hedwall.

That successfully thwarted both camps. Some bettors would have been determined to back both players, while others would have been determined to oppose both of them.

It's actually somewhat numbing from my perspective, because golf linesmakers previously were never that sharp. They would have overreacted to Hedwall's Solheim performance and thrown her into the second tier. This time there's no hint of that, in either her win odds or the matchup. I'm actually rooting for Hedwall to excel this week, so there's apparent confirmation and she's shoved higher.

Ok, after a thoroughly enjoyable last weekend we're back into 4 days of tournament golf..

I'll call 9 out of the 11 Cuppers from last week making the cut but none of them contending come Sunday. It's gotta be tough coming down from that.

So that leaves a lot of my favorites with a free run at the this one,

As much as I'd like Lydia to repeat it's probably not going to happen even though she did do quite well in her first title defence early in the year finishing 2nd and she has been there a week or two already but I'll give her a top 10 this time around, probably 4 or 5 shots off the pace..

Wow...Lydia Ko comes out firing with 5 birdies in her first 10 holes for a early 2 stroke lead. On the other end of the leaderboard, Stacy is going to be extra pouty with a 5 bogey in 6 holes "run." She birdied 8 but is +4 on her day thus far.
