Orange Whip - Worth It Or Skip It?

Sometimes my hands get too fast at the the start of my downswing swing which results in a pull.

It seems the Orange Whip can help out with this fault. Anyone currently using it and if so what do you think about it?

Thanks!

I can only speak for myself, but I am starting to see the benefit of using the OW every day. My issue is that when I get fast in my transition, I tend to flatten out and any number of bad things happens when I do that. With the OW, there is simply no way to rush the beginning of your downswing...and you really need to lead with your lower body to get the whip going. The way it is weighted, you just can't be too handsy.

On my mobile so I apologize for not going into depth but I love the orange whip...it's fantastic as a warm up device and when I'm practicing it really helps me. Once I'm in a groove with the OW I know I'm going to make good swings, if I start going bad I just go back to the whip.

Like mine a lot. I don't get to practice or play as much as I would like, so it helps keep my swing in check.

OW has really helped me with my tempo, and driving in general. Its a bit overpriced, IMO, but does what its supposed to.

FWIW, I'm also a big fan of using it to warm up on the first tee, for those days when you don't time or access to a range. It loosens up my "swing muscles" and puts a good swing feel/thought in my mind for the round.

One of the best training tools on the market IMO. Instant feedback.

Two this with this you will notice:

    1. This will tell you instantly if you get quick.

    2. This will not let you stop at the ball, it will make you swing all the way through to your down range side.

I bought one for myself a few weeks ago and after just a couple of days I liked it so much that I bought another one (the Hickory model for my kids). So far I'm really liking it. I try to use it at least once a day and it seems to be helping. I've been a lot more consistent off the tee since I started working with it anyway. Only time will tell if it's worth it in the long run.

Never heard of it before this, but it is interesting. That said, $109 seems steep.

Big fan! I use it when I can't play or feel my swing is getting out of whack. Agree that it is expensive, but I like how it grooves my swing. I even bought the smaller, hickory model to swing in the basement.

I love mine, really helps with tempo and release as others have said.

I'd really like to get the "iron length" to compliment the full length one I have.

    Great tool.

Buy one and you won't regret it. Seriously.... Or go to golfsmith/dicks/Edwin watts/ anywhere else with a indoor sim and have orange whips or skilz version, hit some shots, then swing some with the whip then hit some shots and you will see a difference.

I like it from a tempo standpoint, but ever since I've gotten mine my 5yd draw has turned into a 25yd draw lol. Distance has definitely increased as I now know how to use lower body to increase club speed(the sound of the whip lets u know when you're getting faster) Never miss right anymore though, which is a huge plus.

Just picked one up on eBay for 100. Not a big difference from the store prices but at least i avoided tax.

Ended up going with the gold ball(mid/long iron) so i can swing it in the house.

I have one and I am in the skip it club. I used it and found little effect on my swing.

I use it mostly for warming up and stretching out. I think it is a good swing-trainer but I'm bad about using it consistently. Not sure it would help with flexibility unless you used it daily. I always make great, full swings with it, but can't seem to make such a nice, full swing with my actual driver! I'm too stiff!

For those that have used it, how long until you see results?

I have it, used it, but don't notice any improvement

Put me in the Skip It category. Bought one, used for couple of months and didn't notice that it helped me in any way, shape, or form. Wasted my money as far as I am concerned.

I was given one a gift(the original full length version).

I only use to warm-up before a round when I don't have time to hit balls (like in my weekly league).

It is absolutely perfect for that.

I truly think this thing has saved me strokes on the early holes as I feel grooved in and loose by the time I hit a ball.

Since I got it as a gift, I cannot comment on whether it is worth the price, but I will say that if I lost mine, I would buy another.

Since they aren't working for you, are yours on the market for sale? It'd kill two birds with one stone...

I like it for warming up and staying loose. It has not helped my speed at all. But it does help me keep my lower back a little more supple. As far as tempo goes, it helps. But you still have to focus on translating the feel from the orange whip over to the real thing.

I've got one. I use it as a warm-up every time I hit balls, and before I tee off when I get to play. I really like it, but I could see how certain golfers wouldn't benefit. If you have a tendency to hit the ball from the top by yanking the handle, it should be of immediate benefit. Since that's basically me, I find it to be very helpful. If you already transition well, it might not be much more than an expensive warm-up tool.

I'm 6 feet tall and have the driver length one. If I could do it over again, I'd buy the intermediate sized one. I'd rather have something that simulates an iron.

The OW is huge for me in knowing if I dont use my lower body to initiate the downswing. I can most certainly feel a major difference in terms of how loaded the shaft is and how fast its "whipping" when I really concentrate on my lower body to start the downswing

Indeed, big difference between a much lighter club and much less shaft loading.

The whip allows me to feel where my arms are in relation to my hips. Simply a great product for me. I don't use every day but I use it several times per week and prior to teeing off.

Have one and love it. Believe me, I have EVERY swing aid/trainer and this is the only one besides the swingyde and tour striker that didn't immediately go on ebay. It really helps with my tempo. I swing it sometimes with my eyes closed before a round to try and get my tempo. I swing it lefty sometimes just for fun, but it always makes me sore the next day.

How would you guys compare it to the SKLZ Tempo trainer? Seems to be the same thing for 1/2 the price.
