Let's see em fellas.... I got started on a sleeve this last week so I figured I would share... One artist continued what another artist started... You can see the different styles... The upper will be blended in my next session to look more like the mid and then session after that will be the lower arm... 3 sessions... 300 per for 8 hour sessions... SCREAMIN deal if you know Tattoo pricing... My guy has been published... A whole bunch.... Great artist...

I think i'm "the Odyssey guy" LOL

But here's my other recent piece. 1 more session to bring out some colors. I'm a huge nerd for Astrophysics and Astronomy so here's my tribute. The planets of our Solar System, done as Cubes! (I did include Pluto, only for nostalgia sake. I do not consider it a planet, as per the scientific community)

I own the piercing side of two shops in MI. I've got probably 50% of my body done, it'll all be done sooner or later. Some of my favorites are the sand hornet on my hand, abe lincoln and john wilkes booth on my leg, and my gypsy chick on my stomach. I'm going to upload pics but my gallery isn't letting me. They're addicting for sure, who's your guy? We run $600 for 8 hours and thats a deal around here you got a real good deal for sure

Old fashion here too as I was thinking the same thing, but didn't want to offend the OP, because hey to each their own, I guess... :-)

No way to offend man... They aren't for everyone... Is why I wouldn't start a thread to argue wether tattoo's are cool or not... Just a bunch of people arguing about something irrelevant... It's all good man.

I've got a couple now (lion on my right arm/shoulder and a rooster on my right calf) I'll try to post some pics later. The rooster is waiting to get some more work done, but the artist working on it is traveling right now....so in the mean time, I'm working on setting up my next piece here soon. Going to be getting a new school-ish sacred heart chest piece. I do not have any small tattoos...all of them are pretty big.

That's my stomach outlined, I've had the blacks added but it isn't colored yet. As you can see my chest and my side aren't finished, I'm going to outline the other side of my stomach and then color in my whole front right up to the base of my throat.

Thats enough for now, as you can probably guess I've got A LOT more but I think these are some of my favorites for now. I make a living doing body piercings, I know it seems like a joke of a job to most people but believe it or not I make pretty good money and get to look exactly how I want with no questions. We work in the afternoons so plenty of morning golf time and get to hang out with my buddies all day. Not bad not bad at all. Hope you guys like them!

Maybe a dumb question, but do you tattoo yourself? How much does it hurt if so?
  • gmetcalf18gmetcalf18 Members Posts: 920 ✭✭
I have before I tried my hand at tattooing, I'm not great by any means but it doesn't hurt any more or less the worst part is manipulating your body to be able to reach and sit there for a few hours I did a little one on my inner calf and my hip and knee hurt way more than the tattoo for a few days after. the guy that owns the tattoo side of the shop tattoos him self sometimes and he says he rather do it himself because he canback down on a real sensitive area but some spots you'd need someone else to do it or else you're never going to do that to yourself. he started a dragon on his foot and storstopped after one claw I've heard your feet are terribly painful but that's one area I haven't ventured to yet so I can't confirm or deny, they all hurt but it's not ever unbearable

Never tried myself, have more than just initial photo... Have a scorpion that dominates my back... ( wife is a Scorpio and she's ALWAYS on my back about something... Ha! ).. Have a dozen.... And I've never thought of a tattoo as pain until my guy rode over my elbow.... That was touchy... I will always say that it actually did hurt that time... Everything else is minor irritation... More noise than sensation to me anyways...

All of mine were done several years ago when I was much younger. Got so many done at one time that I got tired of the needle, but I'll be finishing some up and adding a few more new ones.

Thanks. I liked the idea of having a tattoo on a tattoo so I had the dragon tatted on her leg. Your bio is nice btw. Who did it?

Actually everyone that posted a pic has nice tats.

I'm not trying to talk trash on it, it looks good enough but I'm admittedly not a fan of biomech work, to me it's one small step up from tribal haha.

24 hours for a black and gray sleeve does sound like a long time, especially for something that looks rather simple for themist part as far as detail goes. I've got both sleeves done, full color, and the right one took 14 hours total. He's $150/hour, but when he works that fast, and does such solid work, you really get what you pay for.

I will gladly promote my artist, his name is Aaron Coleman from immaculate art.

That's not all of it obviously, but for example, the tiger I posted took just under 2 hours from start to finish. Outline, color, everything. Roses and tiger.

Ahhh... And now I understand... Won't be black and gray when done... Will be yellows/reds and some whites if he can manage... ( Chiefs colors )...

And the portion he did covered up a giant sun smoking a joint... So I think I left out a couple of important details...

He covered up oranges and reds ..l took him a while... So the next 15/16 hours will do the upper shoulder and entire lower arm... So right on pace... Although he might be quicker if he didn't draw on... He uses markers of some type and draws everything, then tattoos... Think maybe 5/12-6 hours total were needle work...

Love your work, not a huge fan of cartoon like stuff... ( hence the cover up ) but your guy does good stuff... He gets the colors to stand out... We'll see with mine as I think pinpointing the places for color will determine a lot of the final product..

    Great stuff so far guys!
