After seeing the color I had a few hours to kill today so I stopped and had " The Man " add some " hints " of color...

I don't know what would hurt more, that tattoo or being a Cheifs fan!

I honestly haven't gotten tattooed in 6/7 years, this stuff just hurts too much anymore.

One of my most prized memories as a Niners fan.

Do you think that it's all tattoos or just head neck and hands that have ruined opportunities?

My perspective is from someone who used to be in charge of hiring at a mid-sized police department in So Calif. SatelliteGuy is correct when he says keeping your tattoos hidden by long sleeves and long pants will suffice in most situations. However, there are certain jobs where it is not practical to wear long sleeves and having ink sleeves will definitely preclude you from employment. Times have changed and society is constantly evolving, and one day this may not even be a topic for discussion, but for now my advice is to be very thoughtful before putting tattoos in places where you may shut doors that otherwise may be open to you.

Whenever I see someone who has tattoos on their face, hands, neck I wonder what kind of career could that person ever have. Moderation in all things I guess. Here are a couple of fellows who likely won't get offered too many traditional jobs:

Lucky Diamond Rich - world's most tattooed, 100% coverage.

Last line from a note my grandpa wrote me the night before I went to college. He's been gone 2 years now. People get cliche tattoos all the time, but if you get It for a person, it really does remind you of them every time you see it.

I compared stopping by a Tattoo thread to simply say you don't like Tattoos is similar to stopping by a Chevy dealership to say you don't like Chevys

It's a statement regarding behavior, not opinions, rights, or anything else unalienable.

No tattoos here, but I appreciate and love the artistry. I just havn't found anything I like enough to get permanently marked on my body and since I am 32 now, the door is probably shutting on me quickly.

I worked in a prison for 7 years and I have found a few things to be consistent:

    1. If you have any tattoos on your face, you probably have a personality that gets you punched in the face often.

    2. If you have tattoos on the neck, you want people to think that you are tougher than you are (your dead cousin doesn't care that you tattooed his name on neck). Nobody else cares about your dead cousin either. (although black guys pull it off better than white guys).

    3. If you have any tattoos that can be covered up with a banana hammock, you are either on a **** offender registry somewhere or will be (I'm talking about men here)

But like previous posters have said, its about moderation. Like it or not, you will be judged by your tattoos, what would you think about someone who has a "Devo 1982 world tour" tattoo on their forearm? Be original, because before you know it, certain tattoo trends eventually coencide with douchbaggery ie, barbedwire or tribal. My fear has always been to walk down the street and see someone who has the same as me (my hypothetical tattoo).

I would say about 80% of my body is tattooed. And to the former corrections officer your observations may stand true with convicts but many people are upstanding citizens wth face and neck tattoos. I am a highly educated, former soldier, who worked in the tattoo industry and tattooed my face and neck as a dedication to the craft. I would say that my personality is not one that attracts punches to the face and having a world renowned artist tattoo an image on my neck had nothing to do with a deceased cousin.
