What current ball is closest to the old TP Black?

Anyone know what current ball is closest to the old TP Black? So I'd be looking for a 3-piece urethane cover ball with a high launch on the firmer side, not marshmellow soft.

Was using Burner TPs this year. Ran out so used some leftover U Tri Tours and missed the checking on the greens with a urethane ball. Running out of those now. Tried some leftover Pentas this weekend and remembered why they are leftover. I don't like them.

So, any ideas?

If you have not tried the hex chrome give them a try. I played the TP black for years and I play the Chrome now. It doesn't spin quite as much as the TP black did, but a lot more than the others you mentioned.

I've been using the hex chromes for the past few rounds and have been happy with it. They do get dirty and scuff fast, but at $20/dozen for the x outs, I'm completely fine with that!

I've played TP Blacks and agree with assessment above, Chromes have not quite as much spin onto the greens
but nice soft feel and pretty long off the driver. The lowered spin shows up on partial shots into
the green. Full iron shots drop and stop pretty consistently. You just get a bit more roll out with
the 3/4, half swing and less into the greens.

Worth a shot, or perhaps a sleeve.

For 2014 Taylormade is replacing the Lethal with Tour Preferred and Tour Preferred X. I have not been able to try the samples I got yet, but I am thinking the Tour Preferred is going to be like he old TP Black. The also are replacing the RBZ Urethane with a ball called Project A. Should be close though to the RBZ Urethane.
I'm thinking the Tour Preferred is the latest version of the TP Red LDP, four piece and recently removed from USGA conforming list.

Or you could just buy the real thing for $18 instead of looking for the best copy.
Those are "Tour Proven" Blacks not "Tour Preferred." Different sidestamp and everything. I bought them through Budget Golf and was disappointed when I discovered it was not the same ball so I returned them.

Played the blacks for a season and a half when the red ldp was the sh!t. I'm surprised at the recs for the chrome. IMO, they play nothing alike and feel is completely different.

For me, the closest ball out right now would by the hex black. Feels a bit clickier but very similar playing characteristics to the TP black.
Might be interesting to see how the Project(a) performs in relation to the TDP Black.

The Tour Preferred is listed on the USGA Conforming Ball List
The TDP/Red is no longer listed.

(Just want to clarify the statement above because I read it that the Tour Preferred was removed, not the TDP Red. ;) )

Wow, so they make two different balls and label them the same way. That's shady stuff right there. I wasn't even aware there were different "TP" models out there, and I bet many other aren't either.
