I've never tried a Pro V, but thought I'd like to try it, or something like it. According to the Srixon website, they claim it's for those that possess 100+ mph driver swing speed.

You asked for a Pro V1x yellow counterpart, you got an answer. Bridgestone also has yellow balls, along with a few others.

My SS is no longer 100 or +, it's more like mid 90s and I play the Srixon Z-Star XV. Should I run out and none are available, I'll get a sleeve of Pro V1x. I don't like the Pro V1, I'd rather play a Top Flite Gamer instead.

Sure. I'm a woman with a mid to high 80's SS and I can compress it pretty well. I play the XV (yellow) on one hole that's positioned by the range at my local course. I prefer a ProV1 or a ProV1x because of the feel off of the putter and ideally a ProV1 for the way it checks on chips and pitches for me.

I take the SS recommendations by manufacturers as guidelines. I think there's more to the way a ball feels for each individual than just speed (ie. angle off attack, etc... ). There's more going on, in my opinion. I've tried a number of balls that are "supposed" to fit me, but never get the same performance (distance, ball flight) as my ball of choice. Chrome, Z Star ZL, B330-RX/S - none of them felt right or performed for me.

Try as many balls as you can with an open mind, and something should feel and play right - for you.

Chrome + is the answer, at least for me, it's better in the wind and a bit longer and more durable.

Strongly agree. We are all different. The feel and resulting vibrations of each ball can be quite different. Use the company claims and boasts of friends as a guide and then experiment till you find a ball that just feels right while also giving you the spin, accuracy and distance you need.

Do yourself a favor and find some Z Star SLs or the new Z Star spin skins. Evaluate them from green to tee, not vice versa.

Hey guys,
I'm really hooked on yellow balls, but I'd like to try something that plays like the Pro V1x. What yellow ball has similar playability characteristics as the Pro V1x?
Bob: I, too, prefer yellow balls; I simply see them much better. They're also easier to find. I wrote to Titleist regarding the possibility of offering a yellow version of the Pro V series in the future. They stated that there are no plans to do so in the immediate future. I have found that the majority of ball manufacturers do not offer their top-of-the-line balls in yellow. One that does, though, and is pretty close to the Pro Vs in performance (IMO), is Srixon's yellow Z Star XV. It is also, IMO, the best shade of yellow out there. Bridgestone offers its Tour B330-RX in yellow, too. It's also a great ball.

on the yellow ball front, there is srixon z star xv and a vast, vast drop down to the next best yellow ball; i never tried the spin skin, but i doubt it is as good as the old xv; i would like to see titleist put out a yellow prov1x...they could do a limited run like the pink stampings, and i guarantee they would FLY off the shelf
Bob: While watching the merchandising show on the golf Chanel, a representative from Titleist said that the new, 2014, NXT balls were about as close to being a Pro V as you can get without being one. They come in yellow. I love the Pro Vs, but prefer yellow balls because I can see them better. According to Titleist, they'll never make a yellow Pro V. I tried the 2014 NXT Tour S, and found it to be as the Titleist said. As a matter of fact, I hit the ball almost as long as I do ProVs, and as long as I do the Srixon Z Star I've been using. So, if you haven't already done so, give the yellow NXTs a try.

Well if your goal is to avoid paying $4 for a ProV1 by paying $3 for some other ball with "Titleist" written on it, the NXT Tour is just the same. If you want a ball that, you know, spins around the green like a ProV1 then the NXT Tour ain't even in the same ballpark.

Any ball by Titleist or any other brand will go roughly the same distance at various clubhead speeds. Any distance differences are very minor as all balls are built to be near the ODS test maximum.

Where balls differ is spin performance with various clubs and clubhead speeds. And feel, too. But mostly spin. And the NXT Tour does not spin anything like a ProV1 or any other urethane covered "Tour" ball.

I think the Z-Star (not XV, not SL) plays almost identical to the ProV1, at least in my game. Probably pretty similar to ProV1x, too although that's not a ball I've used much. Yellow Z-Stars are a good $4 option. Yellow Callaway Hex Chrome is a good $2 option with ProV1-class spin.

Or the new Volvik iS . I have not gotten to hit with irons or driver yet but short game and putting the ball feels great!
lady: Have you tried Bridgestone's new Lady Precept? The original Lady Precept was introduced years ago, and went so far, men started using it. Eventually the Laddy was introduced so the men wouldn't feel too embarrassed about using what was considered a woman's ball. By the way, if your SS is in the high 80s and you use Srixon balls, the Z Star would be the better ball for you, as the ProV1 would also bel.

Zstar for me. Unless you hit a cart path or tree, you can go an entire round and they'll still look like new. Also, the yellow is a nice pearly/metallic yellow, not that ugly range ball yellow that so many other brands use.

The only thing better, IMO, was a Volvik "fluo-red" that I found on the course. I guess that it's original owner didn't have a retriever, my partner did. It's an eye magnet in the air and on the ground. I don't know where it came from. I lost it on the third day and now, I can't even find/order them at my local Golftown. (other colors maybe but, not the red)

So yes, the Z-Star yellow (all Z-Star models) is still the best out there.

I have finally got to play the Volvik iS and it is every bit as good as a ProV. They have a sale on their site right now. 38% off on two or more dozen. I think it came out to $31 a dozen shipped. Great ball and you can get the yello(more greenish) or the Orange.
