need a dishwasher. reccomendations?

I need a new dishwasher for my house. not looking to spend over 1,000 as I just bought the house and will probably need something else soon..

I am not picky, but want something that washes dishes very well and is somewhat quiet...

I think we bought a maytag that is super quiet...I;ll look for the model when I get home.

Bosch dishwashers are amazing. I have a samsung right now and it's pretty good but the Bosch I had before was amazing. I will say that the Samsung is really quiet though.

Had bad luck with an expensive LG, lemon law type bad luck, replaced with much more reasonable GE and couldn't be more pleased.

I know you don't want to spend more than $1000. We got a lower end Miele recently (the one with the control panel on the front) and those can be had for less than $1000. I was a bit skeptical about spending so much on a dishwasher but after messing around with some of the other brands on the floor I was very impressed by the build quality of the miele. This thing is super quite and I would recomend it to others.

I've got a GE profile with top controls. It's last year's model though so not still around, but I think retail was around $1000. It's very quiet and I rarely have to rewash any dishes. I just give them a quick rinse for crumbs and put them in, then run the steam cycle.

My folks have a Miele and it is very very good, it makes our Whirlpool look like a piece of junk and we spent $900 on it.

We have a Kenmore Ultra Wash (not Elite) and it has been fine, probably 4 years old. It has a larger than normal interior volume (one reason we bought it). Cleans well, I don't think it's too noisy. I don't remember what we paid.

Get one with a stainless steel inside. My in-laws have a cheap-o frigidaire that has a inner tub made out of whatever but it's not stainless steel and it stinks to high heaven

+1. I have a good friend who has this dishwasher. I have seen it run before when I was at his house. It was EXTREMELY quiet and had a very sleek appearance.

I just went through this. Mine died after about 15 years so I called the service guy who declared it dead and too expensive to fix.
So I asked him which brands are good -he listed all the usual, Maytag, GE, Fridigare but he said to stay away from Samsung and I think LG.
they have their own service and the independent service guys can't even buy parts.
I ended up with last years GE for about $800 and other than the cycle taking forever it works fine.

I'm surprised the Bosch dishwashers get such good reviews. We just replaced one that was less than 5 years old. It was the equivalent of letting my 7 year old daughter wash the dishes...quieter though. We replaced it with a GE profile and so far so good.
