Help with Irons

I'm having some issues finding the right irons. I am a pretty good player (played at a 8 hcp when I played a bunch) but go several months without playing each year due to work. I will usually play 2 times a week for 4-5 months of the year (usually winter). Due to this I get pretty inconsistent at times and run into the cold weather loss of distance at times as well. My swing speed is high (120 with driver) but have been trying to smooth out swing some. If I have any issue with shot shape it goes left, and for this reason I prefer low offset. I am also kinda a sweeper and a picker, I hit a really high ball and lose some distance from that at times too.

I am currently playing Ping Anser 2013 and Wilson FG Tour and neither is giving me what I am looking for.

I'd like something with more distance/forgiveness closer to a game improvement iron and decent feel close(ish) to the forged offerings I've been using. No extreme offset. Forged not a necessity.

Suggestions?

AP2's or i20's or MP54's

Ap2 shorter than my Fg Tours by 5 yards.

I20s going to be any different than he ansers in terms of distance?

How are the 54s on distance and forgiveness. I never hit the 64s well...

Yes, I think the I20's play longer and have way more bounce.

Crazy question.... If I'm just a bit shorter than I want and higher than I want would bending lofts 3* strong be a good solution? What's distance difference per 1* of loft?
