Srixon Spin Skin

I'm in the process of stocking up on balls for next year and have decided on the Z-Stars. Not sure whether I should save some money and go with last years model or get the new 2013 ones with spin skin. Can you actually tell the difference? Is is really worth the extra $15+? Thanks guys.

I found the spin skin spun noticeably more on approach and around the green. It is also less durable though. You'll have to make the call if it's worth more to you.

I love the old zstars, you can find them for$29 . I tried the new 2013 model and also like them a lot. The new one is slightly lower compression and feels great off all clubs. In my opinion you can't go wrong with either one.

i bought 2 dozen of the 2014 zstar and the 2014 xv. Also found the 2013 zstar for $22. I noticed there is more skin around the greens with the 2014 but they don't hold up nearly as well. If additional spin would be a big benefit than make the switch, otherwise hunt for some deals on the 2013 and pay considerably less.

I agree with stocking up on the old ones - one of my favourite recent discoveries in terms of equipment. Just think - you are basically getting them 2 for 1 compared to the current model.

I was always a Titleist man period until Dunlop came out with the HT-100 back in the balata days. When they quit making those I switched back to the Pro vs. I tried the Srixon balls and loved them. The only problem is they peeling off my short irons especially my new ones. And yes they are conforming because I questioned that and do have a manufacturers copy of the USGA tests stating they are conforming. Did not have a problem with the Pro V1 or 1x so I switched back

I found a z star in the woods today and saw how people raved about these. Next tee box i teed it up and wow! a perfect penetrating flight of a bomb. Ball bites nice and even feels amazing off the putter. I may have to go to walmart and buy a dozen.

I have never hit the spin skin z-stars, but have read alot of comments regarding their durability not being as good as the older model. Also they say the color is more muted, not the vibrant green of the older ones.
I bought about 16 doz of the older ones last year when amazon had them on sale for $14/doz, and imo they're the best of both worlds.
A great ball that you can hit off a tree, cart path, and sprinkler head all on the same hole and it will survive with barely a scuff, then spin it to a stop on the green on the next hole.
also I've hit the best drives of my life wtih z-stars, so I'm partial to them.. I'd stock up on those if I were you.

I havent hit the spin skin version but the Zstar is general is a fantastic ball for the $ good choice.
