Byron Nelson Update

Just wanted to share our internal tour report on the Byron Nelson. It may do a little cheerleading, but hey -- it's for employees:

Retief Goosen and the rest of the big five are here this week along, with No. 8 champion Sergio Garcia, who also happens to be the defending champion. Retief received a nice surprise when he arrived at the airport – when he got into the car sent to pick him up, he found tournament host Byron Nelson waiting for him. It was Mr. Nelson's way of thanking Retief for playing in the event this year, and Retief told the media later how much he enjoyed it. As for Sergio, he's hoping to improve on his 2nd place finish last week. It was Sergio who gave the r7 quad the first of its 46 worldwide wins to date at this very event, only five weeks after the r7 was introduced on tour. The Nelson is not only the site of the r7's first victory, but it was also the first-ever event where it ranked as the No. 1 driver model.

On Tuesday evening, 80 members of the golf media were treated to a launch party for Rossa's new Anti-skid Groove System Insert (AGSI™) at the nearby Studios at Las Colinas. The timing was great as Tim Petrovic won his first PGA Tour event at the Zurich Classic two weeks ago while using the new Sebring with AGSI. TMaG executives gave a demonstration of how AGSI technology produces fowardspin instead of backspin to get the ball rolling sooner. After that, everyone got to try the new putters, including the Monza Corza, and measure their results on launch monitor and see for themselves the difference that AGSI makes.

Drivers

TaylorMade drivers continue to overwhelm the competition. With 44 r7 quads included in our overall count of 60, we crushed all comers. The nearest competitor has 36 drivers in play, 8 fewer than the r7.

Fairway Woods / Rescue Mids

The new r7 TP fairway woods with Movable Weight Technology™ are gaining momentum, and currently demand far outweighs the current supply. Some put their new fairway woods in play at this event while others will work with them during the next few weeks.

Irons

The iron R&D team were in town this week performing research on launch conditions and spin rates. With 30 sets in play, we were only 3 sets away from a TaylorMade Slam. Texas humidity kept the tour techs busy changing grips for many of our players.

Putters

Another big week for Rossa and the new AGSI. We have 16 Rossas in play, our highest total of the year, no doubt a result of the buzz created by this new technology.

Footwear

Out of seven brands being worn at the Byron Nelson, adidas Golf again finished strong at No. 2.

I've got one. Haven't put it in the bag yet because it's a 13* & I'm hitting it too far for it to be of any good use. When I get my 15* R7 FW I think I'm definatly going to put that in the bag. It feels great, so much better than any TM fairway I've ever had, easy to control, soft feel, good size for a TI fairways as most look too big for me & would never play. Off the tee I can crank it about 270, I'm not sure off the deck because there hasn't been any long enough holes where I have that much yardage into to use it. Definatly worth every TM fan to check out, I just havent put it in the bag because I'm hitting the screws off my Rescues.
