2014 DT Solo

Anyone do testing on these? How do they compare to the previous generation?

Lower compression and new dimple pattern

Less dimples, should have higher flight!? Deeper angle of decent. Therefore, stop on the green better? Might look at these, since the rest of the Titleist balls are over prices. My wife play the Bridgestone Lady. Nice ball! If you like the DT Solo, take a look at that ball. Might surprise you?! Wife has 75 mph SS, hits the Bridgestone farther than her old DT Solo.

Interested in these. Anyone try them yet?

At last count I still have 259 or 260 of the 2012 old model on hand (plus a couple sleeves of the 2008's). So I probably won't be using the 2014 ones until around the time the 2016 models comes out...

I'd really like to see how the DT SoLo stack up against the Nike Vapor Black 2.0 as either will be my 2014 ball of choice...

Wonder how this ball will perform off of the tee. Its gonna be between this ball and the Callaway Supersoft for me this year. Old version was decent enough around the greens and with the irons.

[/quote] I have never played the DT Solo, but I can tell you the Supersoft flat out performs in the wind. I had a 20mph wind the other day and it was not affected my the cross wind hardly at all. I was gaining distance with the wind and only losing about 10 yards with my driver into it.

Listen, I'm not Mr. Know It All but for $20.00 you're not going to get a better ball that performs all around better than the DT.

Nike One RZN on sale for $20 is a better ball, but the DoLo is a great ball for the money.

Bought a dozen of these the other day and played 9. It was very windy but still played pretty well. I'm a single digit handicap player who plays a couple of times a week. Driver swing speed is right around 105.

Driver- Very soft and straight off of the tee. Pretty long too, which was surprising because of how soft they are. Didn't notice an increase or decrease in distance from last years ball, which is good because this ball feels a bit softer then last years.

Irons- Nice ball flight and feel off of the irons. Made my Pings feel like Mizunos. Didn't do that great in the wind though, which was disappointing. Cross winds threw this ball way off line. I dropped a few Callaway balls with the Hex dimples and they were still pushed off line, but it didn't seem as bad. Hitting full shots into greens though were pretty good, a bounce, grab, and small release. Nice for a $20 ball.

Wedge/chip/pitch/bunker- Great feel around the greens. Didn't grab like a tour ball, but still tried. Had a quick grab and small release on chips. Pitch shots were similar, small grab and small release. Bunker shots were nice, quick stop and felt nice. Again, surprised for a $20 ball. Once you get used to how these balls release on shots near the green you will find out that they perform pretty nicely.

Putter- GREAT roll and feel off of the putter. One of the softest balls I've used.

Nice ball for the money. Love the alignment arrows that are similar to the new Pro V's. Feels nice off of everything in the bag. Not a very good ball in the wind though, seems like it spins a bit. Not much different then last years ball, but I still think its the best ball for its price right now. Compared it to the Q Star, HEX, etc. and it was cheaper and performed better/the same.

I don't know that it's a "spin" thing in the wind. The dimples on the DT Solo are high-lift dimples to help get hang time for those of us with low ballspeed. I think any dimple that's good for extra hang time is probably a liability in the wind.

I really love the DT Solo. It's my favorite non-Tour-type ball. But in much of a breeze you definitely have to just allow for "windage"!
